to move single mothers/ families with children 100+ miles across the country, away from support networks, family and schools because there is no affordable housing? and to say that if you don't go you are on your own....tough, we no longer have an obligation to house you.

I don't know really, we had to do it as we couldn't find affordable housing in London, we had to upsticks and start again somewhere cheaper.

Not sure it will work though if everyone has to up and move though Confused

I'm not sure about this one. I think the timing is dodgy and may well have more to do with the Olympics than anything else but put that aside for a minute. If I cannot afford to pay my rent/ mortgage then I would have to move, agreed? I don't see this as any different. The government have said that they cannot contribute the same amount towards the rent as in the past. People have the option to make that money up themselves but many won't be able to. As I see it, this is an attempt to rehouse people in affordable housing as a group, possibly as a result of critisism that people will be forced to leave family/ frinds behind. At least this way they can stay together.

I'm not sure anyone is entirely at fault, this situation has occurred because of lots of different factors.

Plenty of families have to move to find work, plenty of families can't afford to stay in London. It's not great, but it's not that bad either.
