For reasons too boring to go into, I was looking to see how much we could reasonably expect if we rent our house out.
I came across that gem.

Rip. Why are you on the move again? I thought you'd only recently returned to Engand.
Itchy feet?

ripsishere · 23/04/2012 22:28

Not in the slightest. DH is a teacher, teaching jobs are hard to come by at the moment and there's no chance round here.

looks a bit like my house, only ours has some nice wooden cladding too Grin

AND we are number 12 as well

AAAAAAAAAAAAAND we have some nearby without windows, like the second link

you'd pay over double that for either of them round here though :(

thisisyesterday · 23/04/2012 22:36

and agree about the windows... we looked around one of the windowless houses and it's downstairs hallway and stairs at the front of the house. all the rooms are at the back, with plenty of window...

really deceiving

thisisyesterday · 23/04/2012 22:39

my house is like this only with brown cladding Mmmmmmmmm

Memoo · 23/04/2012 22:44

Ripsis I live in Warrington too! >

Sarcalogos · 23/04/2012 22:46

Is it me or does it not have a door???

Creepy...

Memoo · 23/04/2012 22:47

The area that first house is in is often referred to as 'Smack city' by the locals.

Devora · 23/04/2012 22:49

ripishere: now, I don't live in a palace, but those bedrooms are so small! Can a room 6ft across really be described as a double bedroom? Or indeed a master bedroom?

stressheaderic - love how they've only shown one room photo - presumably the only one that actually boasts a window Grin

Not that I'm one to throw stones. My house is definitely the Plain Jane of our street, but without the value price tag of these.

ripsishere · 23/04/2012 22:50

It's lovely isn't it Memoo. When we first arrived here, DD was going to a holiday club at Lysander. Once our car went west, I used to get eight buses a day to drop her and collect her.
I was quite happy to let her come home alone from the peace centre.

is this located on the Chatsworth Estate perchance?

bilblio · 23/04/2012 23:05

Mmm Nice, Personally I live the photo of the corner of a room.

stressheaderic - Nope, windows haven't been boarded up that's just what lots of houses in Skem look like. Whole areas of houses with hardly any windows. There are houses with windows in Skem though, and many of them are cheaper than the £77k they're asking for here.

I do enjoy playing the "What's the cheapest house in Skem" game. Prices have doubled since I lived around there.

Imnotaslimjim · 23/04/2012 23:07

How spooky, I near to that one in the 2nd link. They're all like that round here, thats one of the better ones!! Its a nice enough area, but definitely one of the least affluent in the country

ouryve · 23/04/2012 23:11

At least you know what number it is. And it's, er, got an , um, fireplace.

Just to show that London can do cheap too! And dirty!

I've lived in worse places than this. But I love, love, love the no smoking sign Grin

TiddlesTheNaughtyTortoise · 24/04/2012 09:34

I love the fact that being close to ASDA has been included as a feature!

ripsishere · 24/04/2012 10:33

Grin it is.
Devora - I liked the part laminate floor.
Tiddles - that could be a really nice flat with a bit of £££ and time.

porcamiseria · 24/04/2012 10:36

its grim up north Grin

valiumredhead · 24/04/2012 10:37

I have lived in much much worse houses/flats. Lick of paint and it would be fine.

porcamiseria · 24/04/2012 10:39

reminds of when I was flat buying

I went to view a crack den at the very top floor (no lift) of a block of flats
young teen girl asleep in one room
3 men in string vests smoking in kitchen
no furniture
no flooring either

Lovely!!!!! and the fucking estate agent sent me on my own!

mumblechum1 · 24/04/2012 10:43

Houses to slash your wrists in.

ChaoticAngel · 24/04/2012 10:43

Maybe they were built before the window tax was abolished?

SunflowersSmile · 24/04/2012 10:59

I have lived in worse and our house is no beauty. Lucky you lot to scorn [sense of humour failure, I know!!].
I rented a top floor flat once- shower in living room and toilet 3 floors down.
Twas over a pretty nasty shop too.

ripsishere · 24/04/2012 11:33

Feels suitable ashamed. I have lived in worse, I just couldn't imagine what the EA thought his photo of a weed and wood clad staircase would add.
