To think it's ok for children to go to bed a bit later on holiday?

no harm done, no-one getting tired or grumpy, everyone happy and can get up a bit later the next day.

I think it depends on the child and if it fits in. Sometimes our kids go to be normal time - sometimes a bit later. Sometimes we want to have a quiet meal, sometimes we have a family meal. I guess its about everyone getting something from the holiday.

We always talk in advance about what we want from the holiday - who is getting up when, and try to make it fair so we get the balance of a bit of stuff we like individually and loads of stuff the kids like.

Maybe he just wants one night with you? Maybe he is really stressed at work? Or maybe, he is being selfish and wants the kids out the way all the time. I don't know.

Is he great with your child during the day on holidays? Playing loads etc.

Daytoday- he wasn't on the holiday

If DS was out for dinner with us every night on holiday he would never relax. We used to put him in buggy and he'd sleep, but too old for that now.
He's not very good with DS, really Sad
we are supposed to be going away for a lovely weekend with lots of friends with kids, have no idea how it will pan out. Not sure I can face it actually, and it looks fantastic

DS2 is one and he goes to bed about half 8 to 9. It works for him and us and we will review it when he's at school and can't nap any more if need be. I can't imagine putting an older child to bed as early as 7 to be honest but it is a thing for each family to decide what is best for them. So OP YANBU at all.
