FFS she could get married or (god forbid) get pregnant (over my very dead body).

and i am too young.

How did that happen? Only 5 minutes ago she was a baby. All small and sweet.

Composhat I'm old enough to be a great gm on your reckoning. How horrid. Btw, my late sil was a gm at 36.

KeepOrfThemCarbs · 21/04/2012 10:38

I felt terribly maudlin when dd turned 16 - I really felt sad that it was the end of her childhood.

Moominsarescary · 21/04/2012 11:28

Yes it's feels pretty odd sometimes, although do have a 9 year old as well.

Ds1 was the same age when ds3 was born as me when I had him. Makes a good babysitter though.

BeaOnSea · 21/04/2012 11:36

DS1 is 20 next month, DS2 is 17.

I don't care if they tower above me.
I don't care if DS1 has his driving licence and his private pilot's licence
I don't care that they are independent, can travel without my booking things, understand technology etc.

They are still my babies Grin

LadyBeagleEyes · 21/04/2012 11:51

Ds is 16 and I had him at 39 so I'm officially old.
I'm loving the teenage years though, and I'm still so protective of him.
Yes, I'm talking about you, the girl who broke his heart the other day when he was literally crying in my arms, I want to kill you.

Hebiegebies · 21/04/2012 11:55

I'm 30 and have a 30 year old dd. her birth certificate proves her age, I've lost mine and haven't had a birthday in years Grin

BeaOnSea · 21/04/2012 12:00

Lady Sad - that must be very difficult.

I have loved the teenage years also but it's hard sometimes as you want to protect them but they have to make their own decisions - good or bad.

You can only be there to advise them and support them if it all goes wrong.

OhThisIsJustGrape · 21/04/2012 12:09

I too am far too young to have a 16 year old. I am actually only 33 so there is some truth in that statement Grin

I also have a 4yo and a 1yo because we stupidly thought it would be fun to do it all again and a 12yo who acts like she is 16.

If DS was to become a father at the same age I became a mum then I'll be a grandparent at 34 and I'd bloody murder him Shock

Moominsarescary · 21/04/2012 12:24

ohthisis me too, having a 13 mo around has probably put ds1 off for a good 10 years though. All the crying, pooing and ds3 has a habit of being sick on ds1 after he's got ready to go out.

LadyBeagleEyes · 21/04/2012 12:39

Thanks Bea.
I should be grateful that at 16 he can still talk to me about stuff, and accept cuddles I suppose.
I still want to tear this girl apart (in my head obviously), I'm not a violent person Smile.
I think what I'm trying to say is whether they're 6 or 16, you still want to protect them from all the hurt in the world.

DameHermione · 21/04/2012 13:03

I've not even seen her yet today she's been out gallivanting without me. I am redundant. An empty husk. Dried up and worthless
