To think DH is very sheltered and a bit pathetic (in a nice way!)

So we are off on holiday in about 6 weeks and everyones passports have arrived except mine.

I joked to him earlier that he'd have to take the dcs by himself and I'd stay behind for the week yippee

(dc are 8,5 and 1 btw)

He replied that he wouldn't be allowed to . I laughed and I asked why ever not? And who would stop him?

He thinks 'somebody' will stop him because there's 3 of them and only 1 of him and clearly that's not doable!

I roared! Bless him- let's hope he's never a single parent or he's screwed.

He thinks I'm mean to laugh at his naiveity. AIBU?

Would he be flying?

That might present a problem as I think the airline requires one adult per dependent child under a certain age... or something like that Confused

sooperdooper · 20/04/2012 20:26

Lol, who is the mythocal 'someone' he is indeed being very daft, laugh away!

NimpyWindowmash · 20/04/2012 20:28

He is thinking of the local swimming pool scenario isn't he? (at some point perhaps he has spent time thinking of excuses not to take them swimming)

NickNacks · 20/04/2012 20:28

AFAIK it's only infants who need one-to-one.

he may have a point

tartyflette · 20/04/2012 20:28

I have heard that some of the budget Airlines can be quite anal tiresome wrt 'no more than 2 children under xx years of age per accompanying adult.' Probably just a ploy to force you to buy another ticket.

NickNacks · 20/04/2012 20:29

Ha yes that's right he has applied swimming pool logic to holidays!

RaPa: I flew on my own with two kids. Then 4yo and 8 months old.

Not sure about three though! Surely they must have a maximum number of kids one adult can take.

LineRunner · 20/04/2012 20:32

Yes according to the laws of male logic my children cannot exist.

NickNacks · 20/04/2012 20:39

Please don't tell me he's right- that would be unbearable Grin

LineRunner · 20/04/2012 20:41

No, he's not right.

Lovetats · 20/04/2012 20:46

I flew on my own with 3 kids under 8. Long haul too. I should have got a medal but no bugger could have cared less .

JazzAnnNonMouse · 20/04/2012 20:46

What if you were a single parent to triplets? Would they stop you flying?!?

justonemorethread · 20/04/2012 21:07

Only one infant - under two - per adult as far as I know. I did a ten hour flight with 4yr and 18th month old. no one batted an eye lid, apart from sympathy stares!

justonemorethread · 20/04/2012 21:13

Jazz once they were two you could. Though not sure anyone would consider a flight with 3 two year olds! (Shudder). Would be surprised if they would allow that?

SpamMarie · 20/04/2012 22:29

I think the rule is infants under 2 need a one to one adult. Since the other kids are 5 and 8, he'd be fine. The 8 year old could probably fly on his own. I did when I was 8, although they may have tightened up the rules on that nowadays. Perhaps it was just the thought of managing without you, that he just couldn't bear! It's a compliment really.
