AIBU or weird to wear a bra under my swimsuit?

If i buy a swimsuit for my size (to fit my huge ass and hips) then guaranteed they will be too big up top for my teeny boobs :( Buying a swimsuit by bra size doesn't fare well neither as it will fit up top and is usually 2 sizes too small around belly and ass. So AIBU to wear a padded bra under my swimsuit. Obviously it would be one that could not be visible strap wise etc. Or is this just weird? (PS. Bikinis and tankinis are out as my body is not fit for either of them).

'undesireable cuntage' Grin

That's why I never swim breast stroke.

helloclitty · 19/04/2012 19:36

OP there are certain brands that go for a smaller cup but go up in sizes up to a 22. I am size 12 but all the cup sizes were too small for me. I will endeavour to find out the brand and post tomorrow. I have opposite problem and so went to a proper swimwear shop and found out which brands cater for my shape. They weren't cheap but found a supportive beautiful designs with ample boobage room. No side spillage for me but nice and tight on the body.

helloclitty · 19/04/2012 19:40

What I'm trying to say is you don't need to go down the old fashioned or uncomfortable route and certainly not the speedo route.

It's like finding out that M&S are not the only ones selling bras and other shops sell ones that actually cater for all shapes.

MissCoffeeNWine · 19/04/2012 19:41

Oh heck I swim breast stroke all the time in my crease-dwelling one piece.

Can't bring myself to care if some random I'll never recognise again catches a glimpse of a sliver of flap, however undesirable.

Now we know all the pervs wear goggles Grin

helloclitty · 19/04/2012 19:45

The miracle suit is so flattering on!

LikeARollingStone · 19/04/2012 19:46

I'm sure you can get padded underwire swimsuits, if not, bra sounds fine.

GiniaC · 19/04/2012 21:41

I second bravissimo - you can buy swimsuits (not fancy ones necessarily) that have inbuilt wired bras in them. I've found the Panache and Zogg ones are good. You can find them cheaper on eBay too.

Pendeen · 19/04/2012 23:43

It is 'arse' not 'ass'.

HuwEdwards · 19/04/2012 23:48

"Pendeen" so helpful to the thread - thankyou.

Hecate - is this affliction you speak of something that affects all women, or just the more generously proportioned?

gingerfrizz · 19/04/2012 23:56

Oh fuck, undesirable cuntage just adds to the list of swimming pool worries

LRDtheFeministDragon · 19/04/2012 23:56

Gosh, Hecate, your posts are ... enlightening ...

I was going to say - if you do wear a bra, sew it into the swimsuit so it won't move.

Pendeen · 20/04/2012 00:04

HuwEdwards

You are welcome.

Glad others notice.

squeakytoy · 20/04/2012 00:08

I have gone swimming on average 3 times a week for the last 40 years and can honestly say I have never seen a stray flashing fanny!!!! Shock..

These people have really great stuff. They actually have swim shorts.

Their stuff is really good quality and has a lifetime guarantee. You can actually take shit back after 20 years and they will replace it, no questions asked. I got my swim suit from there and I have to say I will not be ashamed to be seen out in public in it ( first time in 25 years). Major norkage support and no undesirable cuntage :o

I know they are American but I think they do international shipping

chocolatebuttin22 · 20/04/2012 01:06

I wish this happened to me :( top heavy wahh xx

Jenstar21 · 20/04/2012 01:51

I just bought one from Debenhams yesterday - FrostFrench Floozie - and they had all dress sizes then in cup size too, so e.g. 12 A, B, C, D, etc. I bought the 14 DD and it fits well, with a padded, wired bra in it. It was £35, but might work for you??

Hopandaskip · 20/04/2012 03:52

holy cow £160 swimsuit.

I solved the problem by learning to sew my own suits. I make tankinis with big granny pants and longer tops so noone has to see middling bits. It also used to be so I could swim out in the ocean and take my bottoms off to rinse the sand off but I encountered a pair of divers just after I put them back on one time and was so mortified that I've never done it again.

anonymosity · 20/04/2012 05:15

Do it! If you have a black bra and black swimsuit it will just look like a rather glam strappy thing.

AKissIsNotAContract · 20/04/2012 05:30

I love this thread, I've found a way to convince DP to come swimming with me, thanks Hec.

JustHecate · 20/04/2012 06:54

generously proportioned and/or skimpy suits. You know the type you need a brazillion in order to wear. the high leg cut away type.

I must confess though, that since I first noticed this, I have been - oh my god, you are going to think me a freak - looking. It's because I am aware it can happen. You know when you are trying so hard to not do something, that you find it's all you can do? All that goes through my mind is mustn't look, I know what happened last time I looked straight ahead, mustn't look... and, of course, what do you do?

It's like when someone says "don't look down" or "don't look round" if you weren't at all bothered before - you can't stop yourself!

Ok. I am the public pool pervert, swimming behind you, looking at your fanny.

JustHecate · 20/04/2012 06:55

My only hope is that now, so will you all be.

You'll be swimming along, suddenly remember this thread and be overwhelmed by the urge to avoid looking. It's then it will hit you

I know this is a zombie thread but “undesirable cuntage” deserves a reboot 😂 This is proper MN of old
