After perusing, GSV last night, I was horrified and completely dusgusted to find that the images of our street were taken on BinDay.

Shock

So, there's my semi, in all its glory, with 2 gofaster bins wanting strewn across the pavement in front of my bushes. Tawdriness and ugliness preserved for all the world to see and judge upon.

And one of the Chaotics hadn't drawn their curtains naicely. Angry

It's not just about what the neighbours think nowadays is it? The whole world can formulate opinions as to your slovenly habits.

Sad

AIBU to try to get the pictures reshot now I have petunias and a hoovered drive?

AlwaysOla. Grin No, but my gardening clothes are something to behold, and my bum would probably have been hanging out of my 100 year old joggers.

Fru Grin

Does anyone else here go for Street View 'drives'?

I have taken a few trips around the glorious Scottish Highlands on my laptop. One of my favourite roads is a tiny little one-track route that runs from Badnaban (N.W. coast, just south of Lochinver) right down to the edge of the water on the coast. The sun is shining and there is a beautiful little whitewashed cottage by the shore at the end of the road; the sea is deep blue and dotted with green islands.

Sparklingbrook · 20/04/2012 08:04

All the time Talc. I have been all round where I used to live. Plus when booking UK breaks I usually take a 'drive' round to see what's what. Grin

LesbianMummy1 · 20/04/2012 08:07

Dp was captured getting into her minibus for work and the angle made her leg look about 10ft long. They must have come round again as she has different top on but still a very dodgy looking leg Smile glad I was indoors.

OlaRapaceFru · 20/04/2012 08:07

DP goes for Street View 'drives' all over the world Confused Shock

He was brought up abroad - and has family who still live there - so he's been 'driving' down their roads, checking out his old school, going to the shops etc etc!

He's also 'driven' down that coastal highway in California (can't remember the name).

TalcAndTurnips · 20/04/2012 08:12

Oooh yes Fru - I've done the Californian coast - right down to the Mexican border. I then hopped over the border - the difference is astonishing.

The Baja peninsula is fab too Grin

MardyBra · 20/04/2012 08:23

I have a neatly trimmed bush on Streetview.

Petrean · 20/04/2012 08:24

The weirdest thing about GSV in the Petrean household is. Outside our house sits MY car, outside SIL's house sits MY car, outside MIL's house sits MY car and outside my best friend's house sits MY car! I never realised MY car got around so much! Smile

ripsishere · 20/04/2012 08:25

When we were living abroad and I was looking for house, streetview was great.
DH being the mega snob he is, rejected one house because a man was standing in his very own garden with a can of beer and no shirt Shock
Also, I've seen a naked couple somewhere, can't remember which country. I've toured a lot, it is fascinating to see how your childhood roads and schools have changed.

OlaRapaceFru · 20/04/2012 08:27

Whereas my bush does need a trim, Mardy

I was also convinced I'd been filmed a couple of roads away when I was walking to work - can I find me? No.

SpringHasSprungALeak · 20/04/2012 09:14

My house wasn't even built!

MardyBra · 20/04/2012 09:33

I quite like a Streetview excursion, although oddly my latest forays have been to manufactured towns like Prince Charles' Poundbury and Disney's Celebration.

StateofConfusion · 20/04/2012 09:59

YANBU,

I also want ours done again, previous owners had a well minging car, looked like adams family/funeral car/rusting estate car! And the blinds were a mess!

BertieBotts · 20/04/2012 10:04

I'm on it too, waiting for a bus. Except they change photoset halfway down the road, so one minute I'm there on a dreary autumn day, and one click later I've been replaced by a load of cyclists in the sun Confused

AmberLeaf · 20/04/2012 11:04

My front garden looks like a meadow on GSV, this was before I lived here of course so not my shoddy gardening its still a bit meadowish TBH but not as bad the main annoyance in my houses mugshot is that the previous people kept their wheelie bins next to the front door instead of on the drive so it looks untidy.

Senses a bin related theme on this thread.

Does anyone else here go for Street View 'drives

I love a street view excursion, I often go and visit my dad in his village Smile

I forgot about the rest of the world on GSV.....off to tour spain!

AmberLeaf · 20/04/2012 11:05

When I say meadow I mean gone to seed and overgrown not a vast exspanse of greenery!

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 20/04/2012 11:07

BupcakesandCunting · 20/04/2012 11:13

Mine was taken before we bought the house. It still has the narsty old windows/front door on.

YANBU.

AKMD · 20/04/2012 11:18

YANBU, I wish they would redo mine. It was taken before we bought the house and it looks like a drugs house probably was. We've since had new windows and doors and I've spent hours doing the front garden to turn it from a weed patch into something vaguely representing a nice space. We've also got rid of the dodgy red blinds Hmm

BlackOutTheSun · 20/04/2012 11:56

My house isn't on google street view Sad

SydSaid · 21/04/2012 06:42

Dont think I exist. There is no sign of my cat at home of at work, and my new house was just in the process of being built. Surely if google can't find me I must be a figment of my own imagination?

SydSaid · 21/04/2012 06:43

My car, not my cat!

OlaRapaceFru · 21/04/2012 08:17

Grin at you worried you couldn't find your cat, Syd.

Could you imagine if GSV showed every single domestic pet? Grin
