To think that using Nivea Q10 firming cream is going to do not a jot towards getting a figure like the ladies in the ad FFS?

Ok, ok, I know ALL adverts use a bit of 'creativity' (I'm looking at YOU Loreal 'styled with lash inserts' mascara) but this ad takes the biscuit. Very few, in fact NO grown women who actually eat food I know in RL look that.

The woman playfully tussling with the baby... You can't expect me to believe even in 'advert fantasy land' that that baby is hers?? Ok, after DS was born I DID eventually get my flat stomach back, but it took a lot of hard work, breastfeeding, exercise and healthy eating, NOT a dollop of body cream twice a day.

Bog off Nivea.

thread in NO WAY influenced by the fact I'm currently 6 mo pg and starting to resemble a weeble

Just me then?

hahahahaha!!!! YANBU!

tinkertitonk · 18/04/2012 21:26

wotsa weeble?

LentillyFart · 18/04/2012 21:28

Weebles wobble but they don't fall down

Grin
Snowboarder · 18/04/2012 21:29

I do know of someone who had a baby and was back into her size 8s a month later. I don't know her well but I suspect she does a lot of exercise and eats lettuce. Grin

Miggsie · 18/04/2012 21:31

YANBU, just like when they say a face cream will make your skin look young...with a picture of a 14 year old model. Of course her skin looks young, she's 14!!!!!

Also, I hate stuff that implies that the most important thing post birth is to look thin. How about looking after your baby? Apparently not.

Cathycomehome · 18/04/2012 21:32

I am also a six month pregnant weeble, and felt quite stabby when I saw that advert the other day. YANBU, in my opinion anyway!

tethersend · 18/04/2012 21:33

I was back in my size 8s a week after giving birth.

Shoes.

manicbmc · 18/04/2012 21:33

I want to know why one of them in that advert is rolling around in her bra with a baby?

Seems very odd behaviour. I'm sure I never did that when mine were tiny. Hmm

Snowboarder · 18/04/2012 21:37

Shoes Tethers? Is that some kind of secret post-baby slimming secret? Wink

Manic - when mine was small I'd feel like I achieved something if I got chance to actually get my bra ON

OP posts:
manicbmc · 18/04/2012 21:38

And there is no way that was a nursing bra! Shock

tethersend · 18/04/2012 21:40

Size 8 shoes, snow Wink

The only way that that cream could make me a size 8 would be if it was tucked into a plastic surgeon's back pocket.

BusinessTrills · 18/04/2012 21:42

Have you seen StrandedBear's pregnancy pics? If not then you can't claim to know what it is possible for women to look like when they have a baby.

MarianneM · 18/04/2012 21:43

I found the ad motivating to tone up and lose weight.

Some women bouncce back easily. Models have babies too!

But this:

"I want to know why one of them in that advert is rolling around in her bra with a baby?

Seems very odd behaviour. I'm sure I never did that when mine were tiny. "

Idiot.

manicbmc · 18/04/2012 21:45

Am I the idiot or the person who made the ad? Not that I'm really bothered.

I took this as being a light-hearted banter kind of thread.

Snowboarder · 18/04/2012 21:48

Sorry Tethers I'm running on go-slow mode today

Ah yes, I have heard Stranded Bear's story but not seen the pics. Totally amazing story. I would say though that she is by far the exception rather than the rule though eh?

I'm not objecting to the idea that anyone can have a flat firm stomach after pregnancy btw (even I got mine back eventually ) just the totally ludicrous idea that a body cream is going to play a large part in helping you achieve it - rather than the usual exercise, healthy eating etc etc etc

janelikesjam · 18/04/2012 21:50

Bog off Nivea I agree Snowboarder, I thought that too. Poxy dumb advert. I don't think she was that bothered about the baby either, just stroking and admiring herself ad nauseum Grin

Snowboarder · 18/04/2012 21:50

It was meant to be lighthearted manic but then this IS aibu so I knew I'd encounter some "frothers" along the way.

Wind yer neck in Marianne, I'll have no trouble here! Wink

I have been called an idiot on AIBU. My life is complete. Grin

Snowboarder · 18/04/2012 21:53

'tis a rite of passage Manic !

OP posts:
SodoffBaldrick · 18/04/2012 22:05

"Some women bouncce back easily"

Yes, and they probably don't need a cream to do it, either. Grin The sorts of women in the ad, are exactly not the ad's target audience.

YANBU.

Do people seriously think applying some cream and rubbing vigorously is any sort of replacement for just moving a bit more?* Surely the movement of a vigorous walk, done regularly, will have far more impact than a bit of cream?

*Usual caveats - I realise new Mums neither prioritise nor necessarily have the time for exercise.

Snowboarder · 19/04/2012 10:07

Agree that some do bounce back with hardly any difficulty - in that case surely it's down to good genes rather than body cream?

Just annoys me that the ad people think we're so gullible tbh

OP posts:
manicbmc · 19/04/2012 10:09

The ones who bounce back with ease, tend to be the ones who were quite fit and slim to start with.

My body did bounce back after twins - just not all of it bounced in the right direction.

jammydodger1 · 19/04/2012 12:42

And dont get me started on the "adios" advert, take this pill and you too can wear pink daisy dukes!
