He (21 months) is covered in chicken pox scabs. The temptation is too great. He is getting annoyed with me. Surely if I gently pick them it will stop them itching right?

I will never understand the urge to pick scabs. Leave your DS alone. Tell him from me that if you pick again he has permission to bite you. Hard.

Do some sewing, that'll stop the devil getting at your hands.

They will scar if you pick them! Stay away, don't you have a dp with a spotty back you can have a go at instead? Wink

flipflopper · 18/04/2012 13:42

ooh lovely, get them picked!
He's young enough not to complain!
ds had cp last year when he was 6, and he wouldnt let me pick them, I had to do it when he was asleep, lol

DS2 had his head glued 2 weeks ago after splitting it open. I have taken huge amounts of joy in picking the dried glue out. YANBU.

There's just something about picking scabs isn't there Grin be careful with chicken pox ones though picking them can cause them to scar

Katienana · 18/04/2012 13:45

Don't do it, they will scar. They will come off when they're ready. When I had chicken pox the only ones I picked were the ones on my scalp, because the scars would never be seen, but for a boy he could go bald one day and won't thank you for a bald, pock marked head!

WheresTheMoneyGone · 18/04/2012 13:49

CailinDana I am suitably chastised . I shall control myself.

We are soooooo bored as can't really go out to any toddler groups (been raining everyday as well) until they're off that I thought it would speed it up as well as give me great pleasure .

My DS has just got over cp and now his younger brother has it. I am developing cabin fever from being stuck in :(

Will this turn into a pusporn thread?

Not sure I could pick someone else's scabs but I'm picking a scab on my leg atm. I've been worrying it for weeks and have forgotten how it started.

I have squeezed DH's back spots but always use a tissue to protect myself from his pus. I'm all right with my own. I tell him this is for his protection and dab on a bit of TCP before and after to make the facade more convincing.

WheresTheMoneyGone · 18/04/2012 13:59

Oh no I could never pick or squeeze anything of DH's even though he has been the love of my life for 18 years.

The DCs, now that is a different matter. The older ones have learnt to hide their scabs or run if I spot one. DC4 has not yet learnt never to sit on my lap with scabs!!

Don't do it OP, they will scar. I helped my son's cradle cap along had endless hours of fun picking DS's head when he was a bairn.

Shutupanddrive · 18/04/2012 14:27

I love picking scabs, but only mine or the dc's (or horses!), but try not to pick them as they will scar. Has he got any in his hair? That should be ok! Smile
