Am I the only one who is fed up with having crap periods? I spend the first few days back and forth the loo every hour at best, end up totally knackered from no sleep and iron deficiency and just wish it would stop! Tampons last no longer than an hour or so and don't get me started on mooncaps!! I thught "Wow""Great idea", Bloody waste of money! In case you haven't guessed I came on today and am not in a good mood Wink

gafhyb Sorry only just saw your reply!
Its a mini-pill not sure if thats the same as combined! I literally begged my GP for something, she stuffed Cerazette in my hands and I walked out a happy woman! Grin

Sorry Cant isn't a nicotine pill!

Gumby Glad you love it too. I've got absolutely no faults with it - is like a dream come true!

BustersOfDoom · 17/04/2012 20:11

For me they did - Cerazette!

No periods no more!

gafhyb · 17/04/2012 20:38

Thanks Kate

I'm another one who ends up with a huge handbag and a change of clothes at work. I also have just started the trips to the GP to try to sort it out a bit. Apparently I can't take tranexamic acid as am still bf but am sick of feeling constantly on edge when I'm bleeding and it going on for a week. GP seems very keen on mirena coil. I am thinking it over.

kittyandthefontanelles · 17/04/2012 20:42

I'm on cerazette. No periods, no pain, no PMS, no mood swings, no bloatedness. It's heaven.

QuickLookBusy · 17/04/2012 20:47

BellaVita, hope they work for you! My Dr warned me that they can take up to 3 months to be at their most effective, so persevere if they don't make a huge difference the first couple of months.

Agree.

Remember soaking through a super plus tampon and my jeans when I was a teenager and being petrified of having to go swimming in PE lessons in case I left a trail of red behind me..

Now there's no real pain, thank goodness, but tampons permanently feel like they're falling out, and I have to change them every single time I go to the toilet (even if it's only for a quick pee) - it seems to somehow force them down even further. Yes they're in properly.. I've only had one baby (albeit vaginally but surely I can't be stretched that much!!!)..

Agree about the pill - hardly had any bleeding on it - but I will never ever ever go on the pill again. Six months of hellish pain when I stopped taking it before my cycles came back.

Mirena coil Grin

lalaland3008 · 17/04/2012 20:51

I know how you feel op.

I have suffered for years people that don't get bad periods just don't understand. I don't get heavy periods but I do get absolutely exhausted. I get diarrhea. I get very intolerant to noise, anxiety, depressed mood, snappy, cannot concentrate at all, if something sets me off I could sob for hours. I get really clumsy and drop things all the time.

I'm on Yasmin and after about 6 months of being on it I finally seem to have settled down. But it seems to throw everything up in the air, I haven't had a bad month now for 2 months but I've just finished my pill free week and am now getting sore boobs and pms like symptoms which is really confusing.

Have been to doctors a few times and all I get is offer of a different pill or anti depressants. I do find a good deit and exercise helps a bit.

Hollyfoot · 17/04/2012 20:52

The Mirena for me too. No period for 5 1/2 years. Heavenly.

BellaVita · 17/04/2012 20:52

Thank you QuikLook.

BupcakesandCunting · 17/04/2012 20:53

YANBU! At all!

I spent sunday night (first day of first overdue period ever) pacing the floorboards the entire night. I was in PAIN. Paracetamol didn't even touch it! DH had to take yesterday off work just so that I could take to bed for the day. It is fucking shit.

BellaVita · 17/04/2012 20:53

Quick

IWishIWasSheRa · 17/04/2012 20:55

My mum had terrible periods, her gynaecologist used heat therapy to uterus lining and hasn't had a period since, changed her life and only took an hour! Have a word with gp- sorry I don't know the medical term!

HybridTheory · 17/04/2012 21:03

Norgestrone mini pill - no periods for years :)

chipmunksex · 17/04/2012 21:15

Merina here too, I'm on my 2nd one and barely have any bleeding at all now.

I previously had an ordinary coil and I had he worst pmt and very heavy periods, a big shock for someone who usually had to throw sanitary towels away because they got scruffy in my bag, rather than used. Shock

Artesia · 17/04/2012 21:19

Am totally with you OP.

Worst part is we are TCC so can't use pill/coil to deal with it. Feels like a real kick in the stomach each month (literally!) - not only am I not pregnant, I have to endure 6 days of agony, mood swings (actually, DP is the one who has to endure those!!) and general yuckiness. Particular highlight last month when it was so painful I passed out while bathing DS.

Oh to be a man.....
