have to go back to GP I complained about

Unfortunately, this GP is the only one in the practice who deals with a certain check up. Which I require. Have complained about how they wrongly diagnosed me with something previously. Pretty sure they'd be ok though for the checkup in the area they specialise in though.

AIBU to go back to them though, it may be awkward. Really though it's me who should be cross rather than them at me for making the complaint. I ended up in hospital because of it. Sorry this is all a bit ambiguous.

How was the complaint resolved?

Don't you have another practice? I don't think I'd be comfortable being in a one to one situation with a doctor like that - don't think he'd want to be in it either!

Bambino81 · 16/04/2012 21:08

Do you actually want to go back to that Dr?

I've had a few arguments with drs over wrong diagnosis, i changed Drs in the end cause I'd lost all trust in my GP

RevoltingPeasant · 16/04/2012 21:15

If it were me I'd switch practices. I had weeks of kidney pain after a dr insisted it was IBS (Hmm) and only got a correct diagnosis when I saw someone else. I would never now go back to that first dr.

Sorry if that's unhelpful, I just honestly wouldn't.

It's still being sorted out. To be clear it's not a presonal thing, I didn't complain they were rude of anything. Just dismissed my query about something serious, and said I had something not-serious. Ended up in casualty the next week with the serious thing i thought it was. No long term consequences.

It's a coil needs check up after being out in. Wonder if can try and get a different doctor to check, but is meant to be one that did it.

TBH you will probably get excellent care from that doctor!

Mharhi · 16/04/2012 21:18

I have a new doctor in the practice who seems better, and I see mostly. It's just that one for the gyne stuff you see. Should all docs be able to check coils though?

Joan yes I should hope so! I have noticed a Change since the complaint, I seem to have been moved to this new GP who seems to be the head one, he seems to be very good.

If you think it might be awkward, how about going to the nearest family planning clinic? Or see one of the practice nurses?

TheScottishPlayer · 16/04/2012 21:21

We have a senior practice nurse who deals with coils - is there someone like that you can see if you're not comfortable going back to the GP you complained about?

RightUpMyRue · 16/04/2012 21:21

You could try a local GUM clinic instead? My GPs practice doesn't do anything down there it's all treated at a sexual health clinic in the next town. PITA really.

Mharhi · 16/04/2012 21:25

Great thanks, maybe i could ring them see if the nurse could check it. used to go to the CASH clinic (contra and sexual health) but I think it's only if your GP's doesn't do it. Could just be vague though. They didn't put it in though. Hmm.
