To be jealous of couples on Grand Designs...

DH and I struggle to change a lightbulb.

I liked the Ben Law one, too. My other favourites were the old water pumping station or something like that in the north west, they had an old 60s mini with the roof off as a coffee table. They had a shop selling vinyl records or something like that. There was also the one where a young couple had a house build by her father's building firm using traditional techniques. She was one of the few to ever say how lucky they were to be able to do this.

I can't remember the rather sad one about a couple doing a barn conversion on their parents' farm, he had a brain tumour, and yet they were very optimistic about their future. Can't remember a follow up, hope that he made it.

tb the water pumping station was one of my least favourites, although my DH loves it.

I partly didn't like the space: too big & cavernous, and it was in the middle of a wood as I recall with lots of trees pressing in around it, so I found it a bit oppressive & gloomy.

Then there was their taste in decor...sadly the mini converted into a bar was just too much for me! I still tease DH that that would be his dream home, mini-bar & all...

Looking for ideas to build an office / playroom at the end of our long but narrow garden, or go the whole distance and find some land to build a house. By the time we do some major work on our current place and create extra space in the garden, there isn't much in it according to our house build financing calcualtor from Amazon

Grand designs or a posh shed? Something tells me I might get carried away and start looking for a plot.

Is this the programme where Kevin is always really pessimistic regarding design/concept/finances/planning permission and then at the end says he knew it would all work out? The properties all seem to go x3 over budget and time.
