They have been off school for two weeks, first day back today and they both have chickenpox!!! Dh had it during the first week of the holidays and we had to cut short a caravan holiday and the kids have been fine until yesterday!!!
DD isn't too bad but DS is very poorly.

Bloody chickenpox!!!

Bummer sods law that is , I hope your children are better soon another 10 days off school poor you .

sashh · 16/04/2012 11:09

At least they both have it together.

mummmsy · 16/04/2012 11:10

yanbu but they definately are!

Gigondas · 16/04/2012 11:10

It's not ten days necessarily - isn't it til scabs crust over. Hopefully they won't have a bad version of it and will get better quickly (I do know of kids who were over it in 4/5 days).

Mrsjay · 16/04/2012 11:11

I cant remember i know when dd had it years ago they school said to keep them off for 10 days , maybe its changed although they are more contagious before spots come out ,

Debsbear · 16/04/2012 11:12

Ah well, as sassh says - at least they both have it together. Just think they could have had it concurrently, or you could have had more kids to get them! On the bright side, after the first few days they shouldn't be feeling too rough, so you can make the most of the time with them and go out places where it'll be a lot quieter and cheaper than it would have been if it was school holidays! and there's nothing the school can do about it!

halcyondays · 16/04/2012 13:05

They shouldn't be going out anywhere where they could infect other people, even if he feels well enough to go out. He needs to stay away from others until all the spots have crusted over, by which time he'll be able to go back to school.

halcyondays · 16/04/2012 13:07

Sorry, op, yes it's a pain, my two had chickenpox recently as well, a week or two apart. At least if they have it at the same time, you won't be confined for as long.

cwtch4967 · 16/04/2012 13:44

Dh is still off work recovering from his chickenpox, he was really ill. DD only has a few spots and is not at all ill but ds (4) who has special needs is covered already and very poorly.
