if I hear "muuuummmmm" again the next hour at least. I have school holidays fatigue, she is back tomorrow and is bored of the sight of me. She starts something, changes her mind, changes it back, changes clothes, wants to play computer, doesn't want to, gets the paints out walks off.
holy christ hold my hand

I am smuggy smuggington of old Smugsville. My DD went on a school trip today. She did not go to sleep until 11.30 last night and came and woke me at 5.30m, but, she's gone for three whole days.

Calamityboo · 16/04/2012 09:57

Envy ripsishere , don't worry, we will start a survivors thread for the summer holidys. But for now, just get through today, nearly there now, and put your hair back, it will dry in a funny shape, and that is not a good look! here have a Brew

lolaflores · 16/04/2012 10:08

deep shuddering sigh.
Hair reordered now. Phew.
The sound of contented clicking playing in front room at this point.
I just get a bit out of ideas and then feel like a shit mother for not wanting to be Butlins red coat 24/7. When I was her age, (5) we were putting ourselves in life threatening danger and so much the happier for it. No wonder my mum gives me blank looks when i say "oh what shall we do today". IN her day, it was open the door and do a head count at sunset.

I have a 6 yr old and 2 x 3 year olds playing slowly killing each other in the DD bedroom. They have been fighting non stop for the last week or so unless i can split them up (2 willl play nicley together - any 2 - put all three together and its bedlam :@(

They all go back to school / nursery tomorrow ... I will have 2 hours and 20 minutes to my self tomorrow .... only 7hrs til DH gets home

ripsishere · 16/04/2012 10:15

Grin smuggington of Smugly was challenged by the revealation from the school that I hadn't sent the permission slip back.
This meant I had to drive to the school and endure the walk of shame through DDs class with 27 children glaring at me for delaying them.
they are off now. I waved the coach away.

lolaflores · 16/04/2012 10:16

God have mercy you on you Madam. Three is a crowd isn't it? My younger sister got the short end of this.

I remember those days, I actually don't remember dp's ever entertaining me, I would go out and say I am calling for .... if they wern't in I would call for another friend and play all day, usually end up at a third friends house for lunch, never my house mums fodder was like sooo boring (Hmm that sounded familiar Grin)

manicbmc · 16/04/2012 10:19

All children are bored in the holidays until 5 minutes before they have to go to bed on the night before they go back to school. Then they find something fascinating that they must complete.

It's the law or something.

lolaflores · 16/04/2012 10:20

You know if the world blew up tomorrow, it would be because I forgot a permission slip. I really do believe that.
It is a beautiful day out and if I was 5, I would be round at a friends house digging in mud for worms or what have you. We used to make frisbees out of dried up cow pats. They really could sting if you got hit with one. And trhere was the river to fall into, bonfires to throw aerosol cans onto and watch explode. Honestly, we weren't feral but not far off I reckon.

We have another WHOLE week to go!!!

Blimming private school. (moved to recently)

lolaflores · 16/04/2012 10:29

But don't they have shorter summer hols?

OP posts:
Chandon · 16/04/2012 10:41

no, 2 weeks longer Confused

all my friends' kids have gone back to school. I did not think this through.

my kids are squabbling today. and a bit sniffly. So swimming is out. It is cold. Not sure what to do. Too old for soft play, too cold for the zoo.

might take them out on their bikes.

what are you doing OP?

Originalplurker · 16/04/2012 10:46

Oh oh I want to join in the smugginess, I have my house back, I'm looking forward to cleaning it, in a bit that is... Ds(6) and DH back to school/work - I've never been so happy to do Sunday night ironing and packed lunches Smile

First hols since having dd (9weeks) and DH working from home for four days I'm just about 'here' enough to be smug!

Normally have activities booked for ds but didn't have car so was stuck in with all three argh.

Slathers lipgloss on a bit more and smile at daytime tv too Blush

lolaflores · 16/04/2012 11:16

Put down the lip gloss Madam smuggy, bit of solidarity for sisters still on the lock down. Mine has just stuck up "decorations" on the kitchen wall and i simply can't be fucked to care about it.
Her big sister is creaking around upstairs and has promised to take her out for a bit. which will give me time to get the kicky, fighty screechy feel out of my mind for a while. just want to be left alone for a bit.

OP posts:
Originalplurker · 16/04/2012 11:29

lola they you go.... Oh yes cello tape sticky patches on patios doors from 'decoration creations'

Still havnt done any housework well I stuck a wash in and that's it, I'm enjoying sitting here too much mind have done a feed and a nappy change but dd can't talk it's great.

FYI I'm allowing the smugness as on Wednesday last week we had the shopping trip from hell... I used the words horrible and naughty a lot Blush and used all my sanctions as mush as you can do in public anyway. 'twas v v bad, and I had to explain myself a bit and there was a lot of making up to do' dd that day was brilliant and hasn't seemed to have minded getting fed in the street with a newly purchased teat that was unsterilised... Feeling better yet?

And I ve piled on weight from being such a pig in fits of chocolate compensation.

Crossing fingers for you big one to take little one out.

lolaflores · 16/04/2012 11:34

I loath the shopping trips these days feel free to enjoy smug land till the latest one can talk. Still no sign of She Must Stomp from above. Hope she gets round to it before 5pm.
I am taking the view that it is really only a few more hours to fill out with happy fun times. FFS

OP posts:
Originalplurker · 16/04/2012 11:45

I know, like I said I normally have ds out doing sports for a few hours each day during hols then whatever extra as and when, but it wasn't practical this time and dd still settling into a routine ( fed every two hours for two fecking days solid) there has been a lot of me saying:

Yes just help yourself re food requests, chocolate eggs Blush and
Yes just put the wii on but keep it turned down, and a good dollop of
Just get upstairs and put the cartoons on... and
You have loads of stuff, now find something to play with IN YOUR ROOM.

Feel free to borrow any of the above.

Latest blackmailing phrase used during hols was: no one 'doos' anything with me in the house. He wouldn't speak to me this am at school drop off or say good bye as I didn't give him a coat to wear, I did, he didn't want to wear it then changed his mind when I was locking the front door so it did last up til last second.

MissVforVendetta · 16/04/2012 12:20

DD1 should have gone back today after 2 weeks off, but then decided to get chicken pox on Saturday! Sooooooo... it's am extra week off.

Luckily DD2 has been allowed back into nursery, so it's literally me cleaning all day and poorly DD1 on the sofa watching the telly :( moaning about not being able to go to the park.

I am not looking forward to the summer holidays. If the weather's ok, we'll be fine, but if it rains, we've had it!

lolaflores · 16/04/2012 12:22

Just had to go into the backgarden. Got clothes out for her to wear
"Not that one mummmmmmmmyyyyyyy". Big DD got her sorted and now they are off out.
SHe has just discovered wii and enjoys it, but there are often technical hitches. Mmmmuuuummmmhyyyyyyy.....
By the way, congrats on newbie. Bloody hell, every two days. Kinda forgot about all of that..

Calamityboo · 16/04/2012 12:25

Please can I have some of the sympathy if there is some going spare, DS is back at school and I may have been a bit premature with the smugness, as I am potty training DS2, and he just peed up my arm :( couldnt get his trousers down quick enough.

bubby64 · 16/04/2012 12:35

Sooooo glad my 2 are back, yesterday was the first day of peace the whole holidays because their best mate was back from his holiday at his fathers- they went over his house to drive his mum mad, instead of doing it to me!!!
My 2 days a week working have been the only thing that kept me sane!
Must admit, looking forward to the summer holidays, as , with a lot of forward planning, we have got most of the time sorted. They are away with scouts for 1 whole week, then home a week, away with us for 2 weeks,(at a holiday park, so won't see much of them most of the day, as they are old enough to do activities on their own!!), home for 5 days, then off to a church camp for another weeK. I have also saved up my child care voucher in order to send them to activity day camps at least 6 times on the days they are home![smug emoticom]
