to be annoyed with DH for leaving the front door unlocked and the fridge door open....

...when he went to work at 6am? The rest of us were all still in bed asleep. Luckily our 3 year old was asleep as he can open the front door if it's not locked. The fridge door had been pushed to but not shut. DH 'forgot' to do both these things. AIBU to be pissed off and think they are basics that shouldn't be forgotten about?

Front door yes. Fridge door not sure- I know it's easy not to realize it's not shut on our fridge /freezer

HexagonalQueenOfTheSummer · 16/04/2012 08:33

We've always had to shut our fridge door properly, ie really push it shut rather than just push it in the direction of being shut. DH knows it full well.

YANBU someone might steal your tepid foodstuffs!

HexagonalQueenOfTheSummer · 16/04/2012 08:35

Now that would have put me in a predicament SillyBeardy, getting all those cheesestrings and fruitshoots nicked Grin

It's just a good job you don't keep pombears in the fridge Grin

HexagonalQueenOfTheSummer · 16/04/2012 08:40

They're in a locked burglar-proof cabinet Grin

We've all done it. He's not the first and he won't be the last.

SillyBeardyDaddyman · 16/04/2012 08:42

I had a vault dug under my kitchen just for this purpose. You need to complete a retina scan and voice ID just to get past the lasers Wink

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 16/04/2012 08:46

my DS came home after midnight and left the front door open, not just unlocked but actually open. I had heard him come in and got up for a wee and thought ooh blooming draughty in here, then realised front door was open inviting burglers and cats to enter at their leisure! Shock

HexagonalQueenOfTheSummer · 16/04/2012 08:47

Grin @ SillyBeardy! You're giving me a much-needed Monday morning chuckle!

Fluffi, I know we have, but he regularly forgets to lock the door. Our 3 year old can open it himself if it's not locked. Thank god he was still asleep or he could have gone for a wander!

StepAway, I'd have been fuming! My DH did once leave the back door open overnight but luckily our gate is all bolted up and the fences are high so not quite so concerning as the front door!

let me justsay.... he won't be doing it again Grin

SillyBeardyDaddyman · 16/04/2012 08:56

Glad to be of service

SillyBeardyDaddyman · 16/04/2012 09:07

Crapcrapcrap! Just seen an advert for the real hustle! They're gonna try and steal pombears from an under kitchen vault! I think they're on to me...

Anyone got a number for the A-Team?

MeKathryn · 16/04/2012 09:22

At least it was cold due to the door being open so the stuff in your fridge would be ok ;)

Debsbear · 16/04/2012 09:26

My DP never locks the door when he goes to work. Is that weird? Never worried about it. I did worry the night he forgot to put the top of the tarantula cage back on though Grin

ripsishere · 16/04/2012 09:44

TBH, I'd be more worried if he had locked me in than him leaving the front door unlocked.
Imagine if someone came to the door with a four milion pound cheque. You woudn't be able to open it so your life would not change.
Get over yourself.
