...to want to go to the doc despite my nurse mother not being concerned? Slightly grim and period related, sorry!

More of a 'health' problem, but this gets more traffic and I want to gauge opinions.

Two weeks ago whilst having sex, I started bleeding. It was a few clots and a few smears- so thinking that I put it down to 'roughness' (blushes sorry tmi)- however this was followed by a very light period that lasted a few days with cramps.

I am on nexplanon and haven't had a period since last September when I had it implanted, so I knew one would come eventually and it might be sporadic, but because the bleeding started during sex- I was slightly worried, alas- I let it lie once it stopped.

I had a week of no bleeding, but just this morning- I got a brown/beige mucus discharge that was the thickness of a normal period. It's not even a few smears in my knickers, I've had to wear tampons all day too curb it. I've been cramping too.

I've told my mother who is a women's health nurse and she doesn't really seem concerned at all, and told me it'll pass- but this just doesn't seem normal :(

Would IBU to go and see a doctor or would I be wasting their time?

YANBU to go to the Docs if it's worrying you.

But I really wouldn't wear tampons at this stage

If you wear a towel, you can at least see what's on it...like clots and things because the Doc will probably ask you about that.

lovebunny · 15/04/2012 21:57

go. what's the worst that can happen? you might be laughed out of the surgery. but i don't think so. this is an abnormality and needs checking.

Sarcalogos · 15/04/2012 21:58

Of course Yanbu .... Your mother Is a Nurse not a doctor so whatever her specialisms she doesn't have the same diagnostic skill/experience as a doctor. She also hasn't examined you.

DialMforMummy · 15/04/2012 21:59

Your mum is a nurse, not a doctor. So go to the doctor if you are worried, I would. YANBU.

flibbertywidget · 15/04/2012 22:16

Go to the GP, even if they have a rummage to put your mind at rest.

whatsapussycatdoll · 15/04/2012 22:44

YANBU

Have had similar problem, and had enough of implant, getting it taken out on tuesday.

Go and see them, because it has been freaking me out and i havent been able to get an appointment. Going to sit at the clinic on tuesday from 8am, will be seen before 12.

What a great way to spend my day off.

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 15/04/2012 23:16

Go. I've just been checked out down there, because of random bleeding. Bleeding after sex is a red flag in these matters apparently.

LemonPancakes · 16/04/2012 11:31

Thanks for all your help, am going tomorrow

Debsbear · 16/04/2012 11:44

Definitely go. They are paid to see you if you are concerned. Far better to go and "waste" their time than ignore it and find out too late that you should have had it checked out.

BlackOutTheSun · 16/04/2012 12:29

erm, have you tried to poas? from what you describe is what I had when I found out I was pregant (was also on the pill without periods)

Losingitall · 16/04/2012 13:18

Go - This happenned to me for about 6 months on and off. Convinced myself I had cervical cancer. I didn't. It was a very simple and routine matter to resolve but it did need medical intervention!

LemonPancakes · 16/04/2012 13:23

BlackOutTheSun poas? Newbie here...

Poas- pee on a stick ! In other words take pregnancy test :)

jenfraggle · 16/04/2012 13:35

POAS means pee on a stick i.e. Take a pregnancy test

elliejjtiny · 16/04/2012 13:35

poas = pee on a stick, as in do a pregnancy test. Go to the dr. My mum is a nurse and she'd tell me I'd be fine if my head was hanging off Grin

Oh dear, is this really a pregnancy symptom? A bit worried now. Will stop at a shop on the way home from work...

QuintessentialShadows · 16/04/2012 16:19

Well, go see a doctor. There is a difference between a doctor and a nurse! One makes the diagnosis, the other is nursing the patient afterwards!

TerraNotSoFirma · 17/04/2012 23:37

Well did you POAS? Are you feeling any better?
