DS delivered home and SIL a bit annoyed - seemed to expect that it was DW's job to go and clean out her car [hmmm]

Well, it would have been nice for one of his parents to have offered to clean it up surely?

FeakAndWeeble · 13/04/2012 18:53

I would definitely have offered if my DC had up-chucked in someone's car! Why would you think it's down to your SIL to clear up?

PoppadumPreach · 13/04/2012 18:53

you think SIL should clear up your son's vomit? seriously?

cheekybarsteward · 13/04/2012 18:53

Ditto redhelen

WorraLiberty · 13/04/2012 18:53

Exactly what Red said

I would at least expect one of the parents to offer

rainbowinthesky · 13/04/2012 18:54

I would expect to offer to clean it up. I would have done it for my dn but not sure I would have pre my own children.

BellaVita · 13/04/2012 18:54

I am sorry but it is down to the parent to clean it up as best they can and then offer to have the car valeted.

gazzalw · 13/04/2012 18:55

Okay, back down feeling shame-faced.

fivegomadindorset · 13/04/2012 18:55

With the rest. What on earth makes youthink that one of you shouldn't do it?

Imachocolateportal · 13/04/2012 18:55

YABU - if a child is sick, at home, at another persons house or in their car then one of the parents should do the clearing up.

AlbertoFrog · 13/04/2012 18:56

Your child. Your responsibility.

Unless SIL filled him full of crap of course Grin

carrielou2007 · 13/04/2012 18:56

I'd have had my rubber gloves on and been out the door with my bucket with cleaning stuff in it that is in the cuboard for 'sick' occurances before she would have ended her sentence!

YABVVVVVVVVU not to have apologised a lot and offered to clean it up.

How old is ds? Is he wee? Was he poorly or just a bit of milky-baby sick? Had she treated him to too many ice-creams and sweets then wondered why he was ill?

Bottom line is, yes, yabvu.

mynewpassion · 13/04/2012 18:57

At least offer or give some money to have it cleaned.

picnicbasketcase · 13/04/2012 19:00

Erm, yes... it's kind of your job.

KateShmate · 13/04/2012 19:04

YABU not to have tried cleaning it up..

My sister had a new car, and took one of my DD's out in it - obviously DD and the 'new car smell' didn't mix, and she threw up.
I felt awful, my sister kept saying that it didn't matter, and that these things happen - I still went out and spent ages scrubbing the car! But in the end I organised for a local person to come round and clean it properly as the smell just wouldn't come out.

LaurieFairyCake · 13/04/2012 19:04

It's whoever's job who can cope with the sick - in this house it's DH's job.

And then you need to pay to have the car valeted. And apologise profusely.

Note: only applies if the child is under 12, after that they can clean it up themselves.

LaurieFairyCake · 13/04/2012 19:06

Is this yet another reverse unreasonable ? Hmm

have you taken someone else's child out for the day and it upchucked in your car?

landofsoapandglory · 13/04/2012 19:07

I'm with everyone else, it was one of the parent's jobs to have cleaned it up.

Let me just check if I'm reading this right?

You are the Dad.

Your son threw up in his Aunt's car.

His Aunt thought your wife should clean it up - but not you?

Is this about whetehr it's a mum or dad's job to clean up children's vomit? Confused

Is that what you mean?

Or was your wife the one who was home? In which case then obviously she should clean it. But if you were there too why didn't you do it? Hmm

ChaoticAngel · 13/04/2012 19:15

YABU

Salmotrutta · 13/04/2012 19:15

And obviously it's the parent's job to clean it up - didn't make that clear! Grin

thisisyesterday · 13/04/2012 19:15

if my child had been sick in someone's car then of course i would offer to clean it up!
why on earth wouldn't you??

VivaLeBeaver · 13/04/2012 19:21

I think OP has got the message we think he's BU now. Grin

treas · 13/04/2012 19:38

Salmotrutta - it was op's SIL so she probably automatically thought the responsibility was her sister's
