Peed in my mop bucket...

In laws came to visit 2 days after I had ds (so a bit more sensitive princess). They had travelled on a 4 hr flight & a 2 hr car journey to visit. Before they came to our house they went to Tesco (2 min drive from house) with full disabled facilities. They know we do not have downstairs loo.

So anyhoo as soon as arrived at our place a grand fuss was made about relative needing loo and unable to use stairs - fair dos. Before I was aware relly was offered my mop bucket to pee in, in the kitchen.

This is not a disablist post, I just found the whole situation really odd. 1. If you continence issues are that bad might you be prepared with a travelling commode type affair? - dignity and all that. Also if you are able to travel that far would continence issues be that pressing?

Dont care that much really, have invested in a new mop bucket, didnt make a fuss, just interested in others views

You don't have to sit on it!

I have peed into all manner of containers for the purpose of collecting samples and can reassure you that a touch of bleach cleans them all up. I'd rather pee into a receptacle than into my clothes and often the urge hits very suddenly, and can hit again after I've just been, so whilst I would have used the Tesco's toilet as a matter of habit (I go when I see one, rather than just when feel I need to), I could well have needed to procure your mop bucket also in that situation.

YABU. If you gotta go you gotta go. My kids have peed in the cat litter tray before.

Should people with continence issues never go anywhere?
Hardly necessary to buy a new mop bucket, it could easily have been cleaned.

Nothing wrong with pee, and certainly no need to buy a new mop bucket (unless it's the problem of the image swimming before your eyes when you look at it..)

Moraji Desai (is that the spelling) - former Indian prime minister - used to drink his; so did the actress Sarah Miles (I hope I've got her name right).

Mind you, I haven't heard of either of them for a long time. Perhaps they are both dead.

Ha, Rhubarb, we have a big green enamel bowl which has the same uses as your silver one. One minute it is full of freshly-picked lettuce, next it's poorly child's puke, then clean handwashing to hang out on the line.
When we go camping we have a flat black bucket which does as a washing-up bowl, child mini-bath / paddling pool and middle of the night wee-bucket.
Give it a good wash and a bit of bicarb for the germs and off you go...
