SUCH SUCH a funny, weird book, it all rhymes and it's about dogs who are invited to a pace for a banquet but are only allowed in if they hang their anuses on hooks in a neat row out side the door (yes this is illustrated!!!)
I came across it in the library today the children just accepted it like this is a normal story, I on the other hand felt like I was tripping on LSD.
Please read it if you get the chance it's so wonderfully fucked up weird
Has anyone else read it?

I think I need this book in my life. Just going to amazon to look it up now...

TitsalinaBumSquash · 10/04/2012 20:36

We have it!!! It's a strange one alright, explaining why dogs sniff each others bums, apparently in this party they are invited too, there is a fire and the hung up bum holes get muddled up. Grin

What is the title? OH told me the story many years ago.

There was a painting on the wall of a pub in Morpeth many years ago depicting the story.

I am a nanny not a parent but I think I need to buy it now for my future children, it is nonsense at it's absolute finest!

Oh I Love this book - it's hilarious and the illustrations are brilliant.

The storyline comes from an old tale/myth actually; I heard it years ago and couldn't believe it when I saw it had been turned into a book. Dd2 still loves it now.

It's magnificent isn't it, I'm so glad I wasn't dreaming it!

What age is it aimed at?

It sounds right up DS's street but he's nearly 8 so suspect hes missed the boat?

blapbird · 10/04/2012 21:05

He may still like it because the vocabulary used is quite advanced, I'd go for it even for your own sake!

Voidka · 10/04/2012 22:11

We have it too - my 11yo still laughs himself silly when he reads it.

LibrarianByDay · 10/04/2012 23:21

We've had it from the library too. Very funny!
