Hell, yes.

Parrish · 10/04/2012 14:32

Send them! They want to go!

VerityClinch · 10/04/2012 14:32

I mean, yes, send them. Not yes you're BU.

FairyPenguin · 10/04/2012 14:35

Definitely send them!

DollyTwat · 10/04/2012 14:35

I'd send mine
Can't persuade them to go
You'll find me rocking in the corner

pinktrees · 10/04/2012 14:39

I sent my eldest (6) to a football thing for one day last week and he has asked to go again! He loved it, so yes I would go ahead.

cabbagesoup · 10/04/2012 14:42

YEP go for it - I have guilt free, sent both of mine to a cricket sports thingie only did 2 days as I needed to work and they came back begging to go for another 2 days so I've decorated a room, walked the dogs, sat on my bum and even one day watched TV all morning while eating biscuits and drinking tea!!! it was amazing :-) I feel a million times more me and refreshed, and I'm ready for my 3 nights away at Hoeseasons, to catch up with them properly.

Meglet · 10/04/2012 15:01

Yanbu. There isn't a law saying you have to be with them 24/7.

Mine have always been to nursery even if I've had a day off work. It's rare chance to drink tea / potter and catch up in peace.

My 12 yo is at a Day Activity today (as a matter of fact Wink )

The 2 DC did an activity day before Christmas- they enjoyed it and did loads of activities that I'd have to really search to find.

Today, I dropped him off at 8.30, bag in hand. (DD didn't fancy it this time, she was offered)

Archery, kayaking, high ropes, tunneling.

He didn't even say goodbye tsk tsk, just legged it with his team. Hmm Boys!

I expect to find him filthy, knackered and hungry.
A day well spend!

CecilyP · 10/04/2012 15:07

Of course YANBU. The activity camp exists for DCs to take part in and enjoy the activities provided. Your employment status is neither here nor there.

Mrbojangles1 · 10/04/2012 15:25

My ds is at one now and I am a sham I usually book for 3 days a week during the hoildays and then take him out for the other two days it works really well

Not that good for younger kids but my ds is 12 and loves all the diffrent sports and mixing with mates and I know he is safe

toomuchlaundry · 10/04/2012 15:26

sent my DS to football training course for 2 days last week. He loves it, asks if he can go on it every holiday.

Felt strange the first time he went on it as it was the first school holiday when I was SAHM and I felt we should be at home together. However, he enjoys it so much and then most of the activities we do for the rest of the holiday are football based eg we spent most of this morning drawing and colouring in various team football kits

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 10/04/2012 18:12

Mine came back, filthy, grinning, enthusiastic about what he'd done.
He even got into the bath without too much aggro.
He'll be wrinkly as a little prune by now Grin

catgirl1976 · 10/04/2012 18:13

Why would you not send them? They want to go, you get a nice day to yourself.

Win Win. :)

curiositykitten · 10/04/2012 18:13

Mine would have much more fun at something like that than they would on a day with me!

absolutely!
do NOT hesitate.

ZZZenAgain · 10/04/2012 18:17

YANBU what is the harm in it?

Janni · 10/04/2012 18:21

A question like this shows just how much pressure some mothers feel to be everything to their children. Once children are a certain age they NEED to spend time away from parents, trying new things and relating to new people.

Winkly · 10/04/2012 18:23

Sports. Socialising. Something to talk about. Maybe learning something new. They win.
Day of peace. You win.
Happy days.

diabolo · 10/04/2012 18:39

I do it with mine, he's an only child, and he would much rather be swimming, playing football, squash and tennis with a couple of other boys he knows, than at home with me all holiday.

And I would much rather he did that than sit playing X-Box all day.

Win-win! (plus I get to have an afternoon nap, lovely Smile)

WorraLiberty · 10/04/2012 18:40

These camps are there for the kids

They don't stipulate that the kid's parents have to be going to work when they drop them off.

kumquatsarethelonelyfruit · 10/04/2012 19:20

I sent mine to a mad science one today (I am a SAHM) - we thought he'd love it but afterwards found out is was a 'biology day' when his head was full of atoms and crazy experiments so he was pretty disappointed. Shame,
