To start with I have been, against all my best instincts, said I will take DD2 to the cinema.

She wants to see Titanic 3

D2 is 14, She is a teenager she is prety vile at the best of times.

Add into the mix of swirling vilness and teenager hormones and attitude she also has aspergers. It is an orrible mixture, it truly is.

DD2 doesn't actually like the cinema. it is too loud, and there are generally other people there (although maybe not watching Titanic 3D). Going to the cinema leaves her all twitchy and overloaded. 3D will push this even further.

She has also woken up in an absolutely foul mood - whether this is down to teenagerness, hormones, aspergers or just DD2 being ner normal vile self I don't know, but I know that for at least today i am going to be edging around her, minding how I breathe and diffusing rows with DD1, DH and the dog. And of course it will be all my fault as usual.

And did I mention Titanic 3D?

I mean Titanic fucking 3D!!! Why? why? why? what have I done to deserve that?

I bet there are many people having worse days than you taking your dd to the cinema Hmm

TheUnsinkableTitanic · 10/04/2012 11:24

ooohhhh can i take her to the film :)

good luck DameHermione

PS the exhibition is Belfast :)

boschy · 10/04/2012 11:24

Titanic is totally vile - I still get cross when I think about the year it was the Christmas Day big movie. who puts a film where everyone dies on on Christmas Day and thinks its entertainment for fucks sake?????? Kate Winslet and Leo di Caprio is also vile. Teenagers are frequently vile (but also lovely of course).

Therefore YADNBU.

scuzy · 10/04/2012 11:24

haterz Hmm

elinorbellowed · 10/04/2012 11:26

You have my sympathies. I hate that film. So much. Will earplugs help? Or can you say "If you stamp your feet/growl/be vile to me one more time, we won't go."? T?hereby getting out of it? Or will that not work?

I have two teenagers. One is just emerging from two and a half years of utter vileness although we saw a bit slip back yesterday; the other is just slipping into it. Neither have aspergers.

Teenagers can be vile, one can think they are utterly vile but it doesn't stop you loving them and slipping into their rooms when they are asleep and kissing them gently and telling them you love them.

Hope your day gets better OP. I know mine will when I turn off this bloody computer and stop posting on Mnet.

marriedinwhite · 10/04/2012 11:30

Oh - I have in the past resorted to taking a book to the cinema with a little book light and sitting at the back so I don't interfere with anyone else. Did it for the remake of King Kong and the 2nd viewings of the HPs Grin

porcamiseria · 10/04/2012 11:31

erm, this post makes me sad

I have a teen with ASD. Sympathies OP.

Teens can be vile, no two ways about it. Add in the many facets of autism and you've got the worst of both worlds.

PurplePidjin · 10/04/2012 11:40

Yes, haterz. With a z.

Aboutlastnight · 10/04/2012 11:47

We I can beat it. Have just finished a delightful run of NHS bank holiday nightshift.

Am on virginScotland to London with three children aged 2,5,7. Except I am not because of signal failure. Instead I have dragged us and all our luggage on a tiny train to Motherwell, waited in the pouring for a train - any train heading south - have managed to get one to Birmingham and will now have to change at Crewe with buggy, toddler, two children, three rucksacks... Oh and DD3 has just announced she feels sick.

We should get to London just in time for rush hour. And I have paid £150 for this 'service.'

eurochick · 10/04/2012 12:01

She's 14. Why do you have to take her to the cinema? Can't she go on her own or with friends? I would have been mortified if my mum had taken me to the cinema at that age.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 10/04/2012 12:10

Take heart aboutlastnight ,at least you got out of Motherwell! Grin

Ilovedaintynuts · 10/04/2012 12:10

Anyone who thinks teenagers can't be vile is seriously deluded.
My DS is utterly vile at the moment and doesn't have AS.
I love him but loathe his behaviour.
OP it's shame we can't swap the odd day?
It might still be shit, but it'll be different shit Smile
I quite like Titanic.

BlackOutTheSun · 10/04/2012 12:16

hope your day is better then expected

i haven't got a teenager but remember being one and vile sums it up nicely Grin

TheCunningStunt · 10/04/2012 12:21

I just had three days with MIL and now 8 kids at soft play..on a rainy day....I'd rather watch flipping titanic!!!

Aboutlastnight · 10/04/2012 12:24

Titanic is utter shite isn't it Grin

Blardy hell, wall of people trying to get on a Preston

Marne · 10/04/2012 12:29

Its only a couple hours out of your life to make dd2 happy.

I know the feeling though, dd1 has Aspergers and going to the cinema is a nightmare, she cant do 3d as she cant wear the glasses over her glasses so spends the whole time moaning and doesn't really watch the film, we now avoid 3d when we can.

Good luck Grin

FourYolksAche · 10/04/2012 12:29

Nah still think calling a child 'vile' is nasty. Behaviour can be vile, situations can be vile, your own child, no.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 10/04/2012 12:30

I've never seen Titanic.
3D, regular or the TV series.

Skips away, smugly......

porcamiseria · 10/04/2012 13:41

i like titanic

stealthsquiggle · 10/04/2012 13:52

OP, count your blessings - at least she is too old to have wanted to see the Smurf film Grin

Although actually DD and DS (who would die rather than admit to his friends that he does it) dancing to DD's newly acquired smurf dance game on the wii is really very sweet and, astoundingly, resulted in almost a whole hour with no squabbling yesterday.

BalloonSlayer · 10/04/2012 15:02

I hated Titanic when I saw it the first time, 12 years ago? on video.

But DD wanted to see it so I took her to see it yesterday, to the IMAX 3D version. It was fab actually.

(When I mentioned to DH that the review in the Times said the best thing about the 3D version was Kate Winslet's 3D boobs, I could see he was considering asking to come with us Grin )
