To want to tell the police helicopter to fuck the fuck off and then some?

I know I probably am being very, but it drives me mad! The constant drone over my house and in the distance, god only knows what it's out for, again. It drowns out the tv and makes me paranoid that some mad thug is on the run, never mind what it's costing per minute in taxes. It's not a rare occurrence either, second time this week.

yeah. damn them catching all those criminals

ffs, people have tv to watch!

WorraLiberty · 09/04/2012 00:45

What it's costing in taxes?

Are you serious?

FFS the police can't do right for doing wrong

How dare they tackle crime when it costs you money and disturbs your peace

The utter crime tackling bastards.....

CrockoDuck · 09/04/2012 00:46

Could be looking for a missing child.

I always stick my head out the window to see what's going on when I hear one 'cos I'm nosy

NannyPlumIsMyMum · 09/04/2012 00:46

They often the use the helicopter to search for vulnerable missing persons , like old age people from a nursing home who have wandered and got lost ... It really isn't a waste of taxes !

thisisyesterday · 09/04/2012 00:47

our local police have a thing up on their website that updates what the helicopter is out for.

MaMattoo · 09/04/2012 00:47

Yabu. They don't come out and about unless it is a justified need...god knows how much paperwork they fill each night!! Noise is a side effect of safety...

SkipTheLightFanjango · 09/04/2012 00:47

YABU. It's not the noise you should be worrying about, it's WHY the bloomin thing is hovering in your area so often!
They are bloomin annoying, stay hovering for ages, but there maybe someone in need of help.

WorraLiberty · 09/04/2012 00:48

They also use them to look for criminals on the run from them

I wonder if they should knock off at 7.30pm and just let the criminals carry on doing as they please.....

SkipTheLightFanjango · 09/04/2012 00:49

Doh...how many "bloomin's" can you get away with? Not two in two sentences I'm sure Grin

MrsSBackshaw · 09/04/2012 00:52

YANBU - not very long ago the police helicopter was out in my area for hours early in the morning - the following day there was a bit in the local paper about it:
Police helicopter launched to apprehend VCR theft.
WTAF the cost of having the police helicopter out for this was unbelievable and my dad actually phoned the local station to check this was true as he had been kept awake by it. sadly twas a true tale(and they never caught the thief)

WorraLiberty · 09/04/2012 00:53

The thing is...it's like some people are 'excusing' the helicopter noise because someone might be 'vulnerable or in need of help'

Well yes of course that might be the case but also some nasty fucker might have just burgled a house, stolen a car or assaulted someone and good on the police for trying to catch them.

Zacsbird · 09/04/2012 00:54

Well I did say I was being very unreasonable in my OP! It just always seems to be right over my house and has woken me up on occasion, and Worra, this isn't
a police bashing at all, just a silly rant about noise.

OP posts:
WorraLiberty · 09/04/2012 00:57

Noooooo the inconsiderate bastards woke you up during their crime fighting? Grin

You need to write them a strong letter telling them crimes in your area may only be committed during sociable hours Wink

Zacsbird · 09/04/2012 01:08

I know, how very dare they. :) Gone now thank god.

OP posts:
SkipTheLightFanjango · 09/04/2012 01:09

I love it when the copters "night-sun" is on. Makes you want to stand outside and look "shifty" Grin

Zacsbird · 09/04/2012 01:15

I just leg it in, cos it seriously makes me wonder who else is about!

OP posts:
sashh · 09/04/2012 04:17

Please don't, for once they are not over my house, it must be your turn.

TapirBackRider · 09/04/2012 04:35

We had 3 of them up recently - local police, & two from the coastguard. They were looking for a vulnerable man who had gone missing.

Tee2072 · 09/04/2012 08:00

Try living at Belfast City Centre during Marching Season.

molly3478 · 09/04/2012 08:01

Here all the time looking for weed.it is quite annoying

Sparklingbrook · 09/04/2012 08:04

I tell the DC they are looking for naughty children. Grin

heliumballoons · 09/04/2012 08:05

We had one (police?) hover the other day over mine, actually seemed to cicle my estate immediate local area.

I ran round the flat watching what it was doing! Grin

Aboutlastnight · 09/04/2012 08:07

One of DD1's first words was 'copter' due to police helicopter hovering constantly. Grin

I don't like the big light.

QuintessentialShadows · 09/04/2012 08:15

Please dont shout at them, they will feel very hurt and upset! (not that they could hear you though, Wink)

The local red cross were out looking for a missing skier in the mountains, and a group of skiers started shouting obscenities and swearing at them.

FallenCaryatid · 09/04/2012 08:17

Had it on a regular basis when I lived up North. My DS used to wave happily, he thought the chopper was a personal friend.
