To have not purchased any Easter eggs at all??

My children have had no Easter eggs today at all :(
Does this make me a bad mummy??

I don't like all the hype about Easter and the fact that the eggs have been in the shops since bloody boxing day kinda killed it for me!

Anyway last night I realised I've bought my DC nothing for Easter at all. Is it just me? AIBU??

I didn't buy DC any eggs as various relatives had already given us lots. But I did hide them and put up some decorations, and we went to Church.

OP if you are regretting not getting any just get some today - it's still Easter for a good few days yet!

Bonsoir - I love the way that Belgium has delicious mini eggs, rather then the huge big over packaged/over priced Easter eggs. Having said that, mini Cadbury's creme eggs are my favourite.

My BFF saved the day!! She turned up a few hours ago with eggs for both my girls!!! So kind, and yes the girls were very happy to have them!!! Grin

All's well that ends well!!!! Wink

We've just finished our last lot of mini eggs - they were delicious Smile and the children were very happy with them (and felt suitably indulged, as replacing pudding (usually fruit or yoghurt) with chocolate never happens in our household). Everyone agreed they were more delicious than large moulded eggs and hens!

Why wouldn't you want your children to enjoy eating Easter eggs ? Our DT's are 15 but still look forward to getting their Easter eggs - and I do too - DH got me a lovely one from Thorntons - half gone already !

OP, I think you sound really, really mean. There's no way your children wouldn't have wanted Easter eggs, if for no other reason than to be like the other children.

And when you said, "AIBU for waiting for DC to go to bed before now sitting here with the biggest slab of CDM fruit and nut EVER????" to be honest, I was absolutely disgusted with you. You're not funny, you are simply being vile. Your poor kids, having to depend on a friend to give them a bloody Easter egg - ffs they only cost about a pound and you couldn't be bothered.

belgo · 09/04/2012 15:56

I don't think the OP sounds mean as such; she just sounded totally unable to see Easter through her children's perspective.

I'm very glad her children did get the eggs today from a friend.

I never got eggs from my parents but i got something else (paints, play dough etc). I got eggs from relatives and used to take them to school to give away. I have always disliked chocolate (even as a small child - horrible stuff, nasty texture, sticky feeling in my mouth - bleaurch!).

One year 7 sat on my shelf till xmas...2 years later! and they had gone all white inside.

BonnieBumble · 09/04/2012 16:07

I don't buy any for my children because they get so many from other people. Mil buys the boys 9 each! We have talked to her and explained that we don't want them to have so many but she insists. They actually ended up with about 15-16 by the time other relatives gave them theirs. I have also spoken to family members and said lets only buy for our own children as they get too many but again it fell on deaf ears and I was seen as the meanie.

Blimey, calling the OP vile is a bit off imo Hmm

Having said that, even DD (just turned 3) got a little egg this year and we're muslim!

Babylon1 · 09/04/2012 17:23

Thanks ImperialBlether! No really, u sound like a stunning character too!!

FWIW it has nothing to do with cost and the CDM was a joke! Do you never put your Tongue in your cheek and pass a comment? No? O RLY??

You're the one who hasn't bought her kids an Easter egg, Babylon!
