I am utter unimpressed with the parent who decided to take 3 toddlers on scooters out this afternoon couplde with a buggy the size of a Landrover so she had absolutely no chance of holding them close.

Where is the consideration?

Where?

Where?

I am an Angry bunny.

We still get loads of kids on Heelies round here.

Blardy things

Sparklingbunnyears · 06/04/2012 19:17

Seen these? Your DD can spin like a ballerina. Hmm That wouldn't be very annoying would it?

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 06/04/2012 19:19

I thought those scooters could only be used by parents dragging them along by the handle in a very uncomfortable position

I didnt realise children could actually use them independently [bshock]

Those very expensive plastic ones lockets?

I only ever see happy little kids standing smugly on them whilst a poor hunched parent drags them along.

Chao, I'd have thought they'd have shut the shopping centre just for your exclusive use so you could avoid the crush...tuts [buwink]

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 06/04/2012 19:33

I got a cheapo version for DC4 and he couldnt get the hang. I asked one of the other parents at nursery if it took her DC long to master it and she looked at me hollow eyed and said 'bloody ages'

Its rusting in the garden [bad mummy]

We get kids on scooters and in heelies racing around IKEA. It drives me potty but apparently I'm not supposed to shout across the department say anything. I have honed my Glare Of Death to use instead.

littleducks · 06/04/2012 19:33

My kids both have micro scooters, they ride them to school to save the whinging and to the park.

I can't understand why people take their kids with them to Brent cross, and you never ever see people getting off the bus with them, it is always kids scooting out the car park into the shopping centre Hmm

I can tolerate in th high street though expect them to be under very close control at slow speeds but indoor shopping centre is just selfish

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 06/04/2012 19:41

Spinning shoes sparklingbunnyears those things look lethal.

You can just imagine some bored 8 year old going into a Darcey Bussell style pirouette in the middle of Sainsburys.

At least with Heelies you can tell a child is wearing them because they give a very un-natural equinus gait. (walk on tip toes like a horse)

Sparklingbunnyears · 06/04/2012 19:46

I saw the TV advert 70, I thought it was a joke. Did you see all the health and safety warnings?Details:

Please read safety instructions before use
Bella B. shoes are full of fun and glee, just a few steps and you're a twirling machine!
Make sure your shoes are nice and secure, and no loose objects are found on the floor
Once that is done you can get on your toes, push with your other foot, and around you go!
Make up your own style of tricks to do, and let Bella bring out the Ballerina in you
Take time to get acquainted with the shoes, practice with an adult supervising you
Use caution when spinning like a top, and if you feel like you're getting dizzy or off balance - stop!
Place your other foot to stop your spin, a little practice and you're ready to begin

Sparklingbunnyears · 06/04/2012 19:47

'Twirling machine' in a packed Primark on a Saturday afternoon. Perfect! Angry

clam · 06/04/2012 19:55

I narrowly avoided being mown down by two kids on scooters in Marks & Spencers!!
I mean, MARKS & SPENCERS no less. What is the world coming to?

undercoverPrincess · 06/04/2012 19:59

I work in a shop and was KICKED by a boy the other day who couldn't have been more than three because I asked him not to use his scooter in the store (h&s) Angry

gafhyb · 06/04/2012 20:01

YANBU

I stopped mine from scooting to school for a while when they repeatedly failed to be considerate enough to other pavement-users.

I think some parents of small DCs have no idea how terrible a collision with an elderly person could be.

HoneyBunnyDragon · 06/04/2012 20:09

My dd is 2 and has a scooter, believe me when I am pulling her on it I'm not "helping" I'm restraining the little speed demon!

Mine can scoot into town and have to dismount if the can see any other living creature bar me in a two metre radius.

In town scooters are to be carried.

Last summer I shouted at five children barrelling down the hight street to stop being pig ignorant and walk. Grown adult men were leaping for safety grabbing the elderly and small with them to get out the way. Enter Mum/keeper wandering up going "oh are they being a bit of bother?"

Hah! She still crosses the street looking terrified now, as I and a rather dapper elderly gentleman rounded upon her, and explained loudly and pointedly how social niceties work.

HoneyBunnyDragon · 06/04/2012 20:11

Did they crash into you clam?

TheGreatestmadhairDayinHistory · 06/04/2012 20:15

YANBU. And especially those bizarre contraptions with two kind of bits to them so they take up most of the pavement - know the ones I mean? ugh.

I like your username [busmile]

bruffin · 06/04/2012 20:23

The worst was at the Mayors Thames Show. The Southbank was heaving, yet there were little ones on scooters pushing their way through the crowds, where is the parents common sense

Eglu · 06/04/2012 20:26

I do not understand the mentality of the parents who think that it is appropriate to take scooters indoors, or in busy town centres.

Sirzy · 06/04/2012 20:29

Scooters, bikes, rollerblades, heelies etc are for parks and quite places NOT for busy town centres, supermarkets, zoos, museums or anywhere else.

5madthings · 06/04/2012 20:44

i take ds4 on his scooter to town, but i attach it to the wrist strap on the scooter and he essentially half scoots/half gets pulled along beside me, i agree no free range scooters around town, but if they are close to their parents i think its ok.

we have a half hour walk each way to town, ds4 is just 4 and tho he will walk it its easier to let him scoot and quicker, if town is really busy i simply hang the scooter on the handlebars of the pushchair.
