I find it so hard! We are baking a lot so find it hard to resist.i have also nicked one of the Easter egg (I'll buy a new one!)..I'm still going to the gym everyday so at least I'm putting a bit of effort!

if you are dieting, try to avoid things like baking. plan to be out of the house and take picnics so that you can only eat what you have taken with you. hopeflly the weather will stay good so you can be out lots. i find when i am sitting in i eat more. even if you do stay in, plan to have things to do to occupy you aswell as the dcs.

and stop stealing the kids' easter eggs!! Grin

I can find any time/occasion/event/reason for finding it harder diet. the truth is there is no excuse and you are in control.

Mrsjay · 05/04/2012 15:40

find something else to do rather than bake , then you wont eat cake Grin if you are on a diet dont use the children as a reason not to ,

no healthy option where? at soft play? what did they have on offer? also, what do you mean you couldn't put it off any longer? i never bake, ever!! there are loads of things you can do other than baking.

yabu

If you want to lose weight enough then don't eat the crap with the kids. Will power Grin.

Better yet - look at how much it hurts to burn so few calories in the gym and picture that pain when looking at chocolate.

Repeat after me, "you are not your child's dustbin".

I am ok with the dieting but can't get any time on my own to exercise so am coping on 1320 cals atm which is hard :(
I can't get out to go swimming till Tuesday and am getting fed up of my DVD Hmm

SmellsLikeTeenStrop · 05/04/2012 17:34

I'm on a slimming world eating plan so I can incorporate crap in to my diet, just in moderate amounts.

Still, I'm not making my Simnel cake until Friday, and then I'm taking it down to MILs with us, and I'm going to leave a generous chunk there. Ditto easter nests and easter egg cake, they're being left until the last minute then I'm taking them to our family outing where my numerous nieces and nephews, plus my own children will gobble the lot.

luvviemum · 05/04/2012 17:35

It's loads harder. I don't even bother - I just pick up when they're back at school.

sherocks · 05/04/2012 19:02

I just came from the gym, I always go as soon as dh is here...I must admit I did eat more but its because my children are getting a little bit on my nerves so I'm a little bit stressed hence the crap I eat...so far today, I have demolished a thornton white chocolate egg, loads of marsmallow...and I fancy some chips which I won't have...

I find it easier. It saves me a lot of money if I plan days out that include packed lunches instead of eating out. I plan my meals and count my (old) weightwatchers points.

When the weather is nice we go for walks and go to parks or the zoo. If not nice we go swimming to the local pool or to places like the aquarium or the cinema. On the days I stay in we switch on the wii and get dancing or they play and I choose some housework job to do to keep me busy and burn a few cals. As long as I'm not sat on my arse I'm less likely to snack .

I also have lazy mornings which mean I skip breakfast as I don't need it or miss it in the hols. (I eat breakfast religiously on every work day however)

And did any of that change your children's behaviour?

Perhaps it's coping strategies you need, otherwise you could well be going round in circles with the dieting.

It's a bit like a smoker reaching for a fag or an alcoholic reaching for a drink every time they get stressed.

There will always be stress in your life...coping with it however is a different matter.
