To be sick and tired or hearing about the bloody 'Easter getaway'

Yes it's the school holidays so clearly everyone in the country is escaping to some luxurious destination but may have their plans blighted by travel or weather-related disruptions. Well I've got news for you lazy journalists making any old crap into a story - lots of us aren't going anywhere special and couldn't give a toss if those that are get held up at the airport or have crap weather while they're away.

I'm perfectly happy with my Easter plans which involve one day trip and hopefully a lot of sitting on my arse and relaxing quality time with my family so shut up about what everyone else is doing will you - thanks :)

You sound nice.

I feel genuinely sorry for people who have been looking forward to their holidays, only to find total disruption Sad

It must be even worse if they have excited kids with them.

nitrox · 05/04/2012 13:11

I don't know anyone that is going away for Easter.. the usual papers making people feel like crap.. Envy

Pandemoniaa · 05/04/2012 13:11

Easter has clearly become the new Christmas.

Actually I wrote that more flippantly than I meant to - it's not that I'm not sorry for people if their plans are disrupted, more that I am sick of the same old story being rolled out at the end of every school term - everyone's going away, it's the busiest day or the year on the roads (what every time?), the weather's going to do something unexpected. It's a non story and just adds to the worry and stress for those that have made plans - how many times have the doom and gloom stories fuelled my DH's bank holiday unwillingness to do anything/go anywhere 'because the roads will be murder' etc etc.

Let's hope that next time you and/or your family have to travel, karma kicks in.

Hitting a nerve as my dsis is taking her family away for the first time on Saturday with my sn nephew and is shitting herself she won't cope with him as it is, never mind severe delay or bad weather. So my original statement stands-

You sound nice.

Katiepoes · 05/04/2012 15:04

I live in a very pretty town that is a target for Easter getawayers. So we go away to get away from them. T'is a vicious circle of gettingawaying.

WannaBeWildCosMyLifesSoTame · 05/04/2012 16:06

Sorry if I touched a nerve VonHerr, I did say it wasn't the people travelling that had wound me up but the stupid newspapers and that I had worded my OP badly but judge me on that by all means if you want to. I am nice thank you very much, just easily wound up by stupid bandwagon jumping journalism. I hope your DSis gets on OK.
