To think someone should tell the weather it's April...

Well, am I? Grin

It's freezing out there, more like winter. I've even heard that some parts of the country have had snow Hmm

I've had to put wool mittens, booties and hat on my baby for the first time. I actually saw her shiver Sad

Kayano · 04/04/2012 10:08

We had snow (NE) gone now though

ClaireDeTamble · 04/04/2012 10:11

YABU

According to Michael Fish on the radio this morning it is statistically more likely to snow in April than in December.

This weather is not particularly ubusual for the time of year - last weeks was though.

On saying that, we are due to go away next week, so I hope the unusual weather comes back sharpish Wink

MyLittleMiracle · 04/04/2012 10:14

It looks life april here. Sunny at the moment, hearing the birds tweeting and oh yes those showers last night!! Well more like torrential rain! LOL

ChaoticAngel · 04/04/2012 10:25

Maybe it's my memory playing tricks because I vaguely remember sunshine and warm weather over the last few years when I was stuck inside finishing essays due to deadlines. I definitely remember one April being sat in my neighbours front garden drinking Lambrini wine one April while the workmen put in a new bathroom but that was quite a few years ago.

Kayano poor little thing, hopefully it'll warm up a bit so she won't need the hat, mittens and booties for long.

This is proper April weather though!

I have an April birthday and over the years, I've been sunbathing on my birthday, building snowmen, dodging rain and looking at hail stones Grin

hellhasnofurylikeahungrywoman · 04/04/2012 10:27

Snow in April isn't that unusual though is it? I have memories of snow in May during DD's lifetime (she's 21).

Kayano · 04/04/2012 10:29

Cold outside and cosy inside seems to have made for a sleepy snuggled up baby though and lots of time for MN for mummy

Weather is forgiven

PurpleRomanesco · 04/04/2012 10:31

DP told me he remembered an Easter Sunday where he was playing in the snow and I didn't believe him! (I cannot remember it and we grew up quite close to each other). I do now though.

PurpleRomanesco · 04/04/2012 10:34

Aww, Kayano :). The sun will be back soon but keep her snuggled until then. Only venture out for necessities.

signet · 04/04/2012 10:35

Beautiful sunshine here today. I'm hearing how it's cold everywhere with snow around but we have blue skies and although it's not hot it's definitely not the freezing weather we were expecting.

Stratters · 04/04/2012 10:59

I can remember playing in the snow at Easter, this is perfectly normal weather for April.

ChaoticAngel · 04/04/2012 11:04

I guess it's just my memory then Grin

Kayano glad she's snuggly and comfortable :)

Didn't hear anyone complaining when March got itself thoroughly confused. Granted the blizzard last night wasn't nice, but it wasn't the first snow I've seen in April, it's a notoriously unsettled month. After the last few weeks we really can't grumble, it only feels so cold today because we've been spoiled so far.

Personally I'm hoping that the change in the weather will make baby decide to put in an appearance. 39+4 today and Sod's Law dictates that he/she'll decide it's time now the roads to the hospital are treacherous Wink

AngryFeet · 04/04/2012 11:23

Maybe if we have a cooler more rainy April instead of the heatwave we have had in the last few years then we might actually have a hot SUMMER rather than a nice spring and rain all August?

daenerysstormborn · 04/04/2012 11:26

i put away all the snowboots, gloves, hats, scarves etc yesterday. cue today - sleet!

a few years ago, we spent easter on a beach in cornwall sunbathing. now, i've put the heating back on.

issey6cats · 04/04/2012 11:30

its proper snowing here in halifax and this afternoon i have two seperate places to go both of which are an approximately half mile walk each from my house, so i will be walking about two miles in this aaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhh (hate snow)

ChaoticAngel · 04/04/2012 11:33

I've just put the heating back on too. Not that I'll get much benefit from it as I have to go out soon but the kids, dog and cat will. I have to admit we don't usually get it as bad here as other parts of the country but it is cold.

AngryFeet the first part of your post gives me hope that my memory isn't that bad after all.

Giveme good luck with that journey if dc does decide to put in an appearance :)

April certainly ought to be wet, that's for sure...April showers and all that.
I am desperate for my water butt to fill up again, it's never been so low, not even at the height of August last year.

I'm saving washing up water and putting it on the plants now, so the more it rains this month the better as far as I'm concerned. Cold, snow and blizzards I can do without. (Oh and if it can rain during the night and be sunny during the day that'd be just perfect).

jubilee10 · 04/04/2012 11:47

We had 5 inches of snow here yesterday. The sun's out now and it's melting. The snowman is still ok though!

Lueji · 04/04/2012 11:52

I don't know but I always associate Easter with cold.

And April is supposed to be very wet.

Kayano · 04/04/2012 11:55

Baby update:

As soon as she woke up I ran upstairs, tore the price tag off her snowsuit and dressed her in it.

She didn't really need it but I bought it for a feb baby and she was damn well going to wear it.

In my defence she is very smiley about it, and it's a thumper snowsuit with ears and everything

The first time we ever took our son sledging it was April, not unusal at all. I think what messes with our memories is when we have a late April Easter which is usually sunny. Early Easters always equal snow and cold in the UK!

insanityscratching · 04/04/2012 12:04

Been snowing since 1am here north Derbyshire. Seems to be slowing now but we have a good four inches at least. Hate the snow.
