I'm a regular under a name change for what I hope will become obvious reasons.

I got my bfp yesterday on clearblue plus. In the supermarket loo while dp did the shop - fmu and it was to only place open Blush. This pg is the first for us both and is very much wanted, but 2-5 years earlier than planned.

I want to tell my parents that we're expecting their first grandchild. This will be my IL's fourth, so fractionally less exciting. Actually, I want to shout it from the rooftops!

AIBU to not be quite convinced until I see a dr (probably tomorrow)? AIBU to not tell my parents for another 24 hours or so? And AIBU to have namechanged because I don't want mn or anyone else to know before the magic 12 weeks?

We weren't going to tell anyone until 12 weeks but then we had to have a scan at 8weeks as the midwife said I was miscarrying. We decided to tell PIL/my Grandmother as I wanted them to have the enjoyment of knowing a grandchild was on the way as we would tell them if we miscarried anyway. Turns out the baby was born okay but when I did miscarry they were shit, so really the point to this pointless post is do what you want and not what you think you should do.

Congratulations first of all. Re DR and tests. With DS1 I was in another area and they just booked me into antenatal based on my say so. This time round my GP made me have 2 blood tests. The first one confirmed that I was pregnant but he said my HCG level was not high enough for a referral to MW and I had to wait a few days then have a repeat test Confused. I had already had 2 + urine tests at home (DS2 was a longed for baby and we were starting to worry that we had a secondary infertility problem). When I got to see the MW he was very surprised and said that a blood test of any kind let alone a certain reading is not needed and I could have self referred rather than had a second test.
