Well I've googled mouldy tampons and the only thing that comes up is page after page on this one woman and her one mouldy tampon. It may be true or may not, but it certainly isn't a common occurance.Anyone who thinks a single use product made and sealed under protective, sterile conditions is less likely to cause infection than a reusable 'wash at home' mooncup then they need their head testing!

hmm, have used tampons for over 30 years and had no probs, and no mouldy ones as far as I know

I read a story once about a girl who put a tampon in at the end of her cycle and forgot about it.

She developed toxic shock syndrome and only realised the tampon was still in her when the doctor removed it - three days later!

That's (so far) the only instance other than this where I have heard of a tampon going mouldy but that story was so gross, it made me Shock

Love love love my moon cup. So glad not to have tampons in my life anymore sitting there in the bin yeeuch. Never understand women that turn their noses up at moon cups other forms of sanitary protection a million times grimmer.

I found it funny that the company tried to downplay it by the fact it was similar mold found on food - I wouldn't eat moldy food let alone shove it up there!
