Well I am in pain, what was originally thought to be Cystitis turns out to be kidney stones
I want to wallow in my misery for one day but no I have to look after the kids, home work, dinner, scouts, ballet, terrible two's tantrums, fine what ever but stupid bastard DP has told my SIL that I would take her 2 DC no probs tomorrow because her gallstones are playing up and she cannot take her pain meds when she has her two DSes..
Oh Yeah he will be working a 24 hr shift
murder is only illegal if I get caught right?

kidney stones out trump gall bladder as thatcan be controlled by diet mainly, kidney stones are discribed as worse than child birth, I will add I took this with a pinch of salt until I met a lovely lady who had had 5 children naturally and kidney stones and ranked it higher.
If I was your sil I wouldn't want you looking after my children, in a good way iyswim :)

happylittlebear · 29/03/2012 23:33

Repeat kidney stone sufferer here - 5 times and counting Sad

I can confidently say I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy, without a doubt worse than childbirth.

I can also confidently say I would be telling her to fuck the fuck off, cheeky cow Angry

canyou · 29/03/2012 23:34

missingmumx0x DR told me I was eating a diet to high in animal fats and that had caused my stones I am a vegetarian Confused Grin Must give up eating meat in secret Actually now after a bit of research I think the calcium tablets I take may have caused the problem.
I only gave birth to one of my DC, ad her birth was premmie and shocking so I cant really comment on which would be worse but I am thinking the kidney pain is at least back then I could wee
To be fair SIL is on a 'diet' so she may be going through a bad period right now

Happylittlebear 5 times ShockPoor you , you are strong and brave. I cannot do this 5 times, I slept on the floor today to find relief and be near the loo Blush I am trying to drink enough water but it is not staying in very long, I had to have a conversation with the DC that I had priority over the bathroom. I even considered weeing in the shower when DP took to long in the toilet today

250 euro for a day's babysitting!? Can I come over and do it please? Grin

happylittlebear · 29/03/2012 23:51

Not brave by any means, just used to it, has been going on for 10 years now (I am 31) and I think you just get better at recognising the signs.
The first time I had no idea what it was, I actually thought I was dying, I vomited so much with the pain there was nothing else to come up but BLUE bile, my mum freaked out and she is no soft touch Smile

Seriously you need to be looking after yourself, please tell her no. Its quite likely that if the stone has moved once it will move again (while you're waiting for treatment), what the fuck will you do with all the kids if you need to ring an ambulance? Trust me, I've had to do it ALOT.

Also don't worry too much about the cause at this stage and start changing your diet, once you have your treatment you will prob have blood tests and if they can they will send your stone(s) off to be analysed and see what they are made up of. A urologist is the best person to advise you on causes and possible diet changes, not your GP.

Drink plenty! you have my deepest sympathy x

canyou · 29/03/2012 23:54

Not a bother realhousewife the more the merrier the longer DP can't play golf It is 8 DC from 16 weeks to 12 yrs and a cranky me but as I can only drink non alcoholic drinks the wine stock is in need of depletion Wink

OP posts:
canyou · 30/03/2012 00:00

Happy I am 'lucky' in the sense that I knew which hospital to go to [ie not the nearest] so I did see a urologist in A&E and had scans done already sick at the potential cost as am in IRL and it was he said that to me, also said no travelling or hols until stone is cleared I think I will be seen in the next 6 weeks I live in hope but yes def I am not taking anyone elses DC for a while.
I have to drink a case of 250 ml bottles of water a day the nice nurse suggested that the small bottles are the easiest way to ge the water in as a big bottle is too daunting and not measuring means not enough water. I now officially hate water Sad

happylittlebear · 30/03/2012 00:16

Interesting, I have always been told to drink filtered and specifically not bottled water - something about minerals/calcium in bottled water. Might be worth checking what dr thinks?

Also no harm in a little squash in the water, obvs not a good idea to crack open the wine Wink but as long as you are getting fluids in that's what matters...

Fingers crossed you don't need to wait too long for your treatment.

happylittlebear · 30/03/2012 00:20

Feel free to PM me when you know what treatment you will be having (or before). I have had lithotripsy and removal under GA, and stents while waiting for treatment so happy to answer any q's if you're worried?

chocolatehobnobs · 30/03/2012 00:31

As a surgeon who looks after people with both gallstones and kidney stones, kidney stones are thought to be a much worse pain. Gallstones can be very bad with 'cholecystitis' inflammation of the GB causing a constant pain and fever. If she's at home with recurrent pain it will be biliary colic, so you win! I think she should look after your DC

I'm just out of hospital after having lithotripsy and stenting for a 'massive' stone. I've now passed 9 bits of stone. It was seriously the worst pain I've ever had. My mum is staying to look after DD while DP is at work. I feel about 10 years old again. You are so allowed to stay in bed with good drugs. Hope it passes soon.

cakewench · 30/03/2012 14:00

Sorry, but I need a follow-up on this post! [nosy] What's happened? Have the children been set free to roam in the wild? :)

imnotmymum · 30/03/2012 14:03

Forget everything for a couple of days [ballet, scouts etc etc ] and no way look after more kids. This is the time to be selfish and I would send you flowers but cannot get it to work !!

McPopcornMouseNFries · 30/03/2012 14:07

canyou say NO - you're being a doormat martyr and you don't need to be!

imnotmymum · 30/03/2012 14:26

OP just print out and laminate chocolatehobnobs post and stick it on the door !!

canyou · 30/03/2012 19:33

Happy I was trying to monitor how much I drink, so you probably are right Blush I will save the little bottles and refill with filtered water. I am hoping to avoid to much treatment and praying that they will pass.
Jenstar How are you now, hope you feel beter, was the recovery long and how long were you in hosp for?
May I ask a question plse. Did you feel constantly dehydrated? I do also the pain is back almost worse tonight but I have not had enough to drink as I feel queasy Confused Also it really hurts my right kidney area after I pee. Trying to avoid hosp over a weekend
Chocolatehobnobs Thank you for that information Grin It will be used Wink
Iamnotmymum thank you for the thought of flowers that is far more welcome then DSs gift of a snail farm
McPopcornMouseNFries I will practice that strange word and put it to use Grin
Cakewench Update
Well DC5 got up at 5 am lol So DP had an early start, still it gave him plenty of time to sort out breakfast and school lunches. SIL;s MIL dropped her two here at 7.30 on her way to work as she had stayed with SIL last night Shock The girls showed up at 8 am dressed the DC took them to school and those not in school to the park, came back for a snack and collected first batch of school DC had a picnic snack hung out the washing I had done and got the second batch of school DC, played in the garden built a wigwam we cut down trees last week assembled a snail farm Hmm had a treasure hunt, glitter painted leaves, and set up the out door play houses and made crispie cakes, Dinner was glitter filled homemade fish fingers cooking will have killed the undesirables in the food I hope and home made purple and pink chips and mushy peas from the 'chip shop' [The girls cooked the food wrapped it in newspaper and handed it out the kitchen window for 4 stones a portion Grin
They were fab all the DC are wreaked, the smallies are in bed, the cuckoo's are gone home poor BIL The girls and my eldest two are eating take away Indian watching a film they are staying until 9 pm.
I was up for the day but did very little and am dreading the start of the school hols next wed if I still feel like this. The house is also a tip but you know what I had happy DC and really that is what it should be all about Grin

YANBU either to want sympathy or to not want extra kids. SIL is being a bit U wanting help with her kids while in pain. Your husband/her brother is being totally U making it your problem - still, he'll be able to do his share the day he wouldve been playing golf Wink
