Firstly no strike has been announced, secondly if it was the union has to give 7 days notice of a strike, thirdly the gov have contingency plans in place (I could go on).

Yet ive just had to queue for 20 mInutes to get past all the panic buying twunts trying to get onto the garage forecourt and blocking the way into the supermarket.

Now I know some unfortunates will need petrol and be caught up in this unfortunate display of self importance but really people calm the fuck down!!!!!

Rant over!!

we never do these things properly.

everything will be fine

LaurieFairyCake · 29/03/2012 13:15

I drove past 3 garages on the way home from work this morning and there are at least hour long queues.

I actually need petrol before I make a journey tomorrow so I'm actually thinking of cancelling it as I can't be faffed to sit in a hot car for an hour.

ZeldaUpNorth · 29/03/2012 13:16

My petrol light has come on this morning (i only put £20 in at a time) but really dont want to go and have to wait in the queues. Also dp needs petrol for the lawnmower so i'll be seen as "one of those idiots" panic buying because i need to put it in a container rather than the car. Angry

i agree, DH is likely to be stuck 'dahn sarf' because he can't find enough fucking diesel to get home tonight (is service engineer) because lots of arseholes people have filled their 4x4s to sit on their fucking drives all cunting weekend

Haziedoll · 29/03/2012 13:19

Well the Tories are to blame considering they were advising people to keep a jerry can of petrol in their garage!

YonWhaleFish · 29/03/2012 13:19

YANBU

fullofregrets · 29/03/2012 13:23

No, it is annoying.
I filled up this morning because I needed to. I would have filled up anyway as petrol light was on. However I had to wait twenty five minutes and listen to an old man tell me how the problem was nobody wanted to walk anymore. Whilst filling up his 4x4.
Nope. You're right old man. I don't want to walk me and my two year old seven miles to nursery and seven miles back again.

CogitoErgoSometimes · 29/03/2012 13:36

YABU... There's no shortage of fuel and you can't fill a full tank. Anyone queuing for petrol therefore has space in the tank so is not 'panicking'... just 'refuelling' a bit earlier than normal. The garages will probably be all back to normal by Saturday.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 29/03/2012 13:39

DH had to queue for 40 minutes at gone midnight. He put £20 quid in and moved on, he watched one man fill 3 cans and put them in his boot. BUT the government told everyone to fill up and so IMVHO stoked the panic to suit their own political ends.

UnChartered · 29/03/2012 13:41

saturday is no frigging use to someone trying to drive 120 miles home after a days work, is it?

OrmIrian · 29/03/2012 13:43

Agree.

But then again I filled up my monstrous great fuel tank last week so will be fine for ages so I can afford to be smug Grin But even so.

MrsHeffley · 29/03/2012 13:47

That's fine and dandy if you don't live in a rural area or elderly and rely on your car.Dp is filling up today because I don't fancy being carless and stuck during the first week of the hols. I've got masses to do.

Personally I don't trust this gov re anything. If they say they have contingency plans they probably haven't-they lie consistently.

Mt dc's elderly grandparents who they never see are coming next week(5 hour car journey). Both gps and dc will be gutted if they don't come.Fil is filling up and I don't blame him.
