I find myself replying to what I know are quite lighthearted threads, only to be told that some people have MH problems/hidden disibilities/serious problems going on in their lives.
Does common sense not dictate that a normal, non-offensive poster will be talking about those who are able to understand their actions/control their bodies etc?
Annoying FB status updates? Don't complain about them, could be suffering from depression.
AIBU to think that most children should not need to go in a buggy for short journey's at 5? Hidden disibility, don't judge.
Sworn at by a checkout man? Personal problems, maybe his mum just died.
It makes you afraid to say anything for fear it may be misinterpreted. Unless I say otherwise, I am referring to anyone who is able to do whatever it is I am having a good old fashioned moan about. I am not being disablist (Sorry if this is totally the wrong word, but you know what I mean), I just assume that people will know that as a caring human being I am capable of understanding that there will always be the odd occasion where someone has an issue meaning that their behaviour does not seem usual, and I am not purposefully talking about these instances. I am talking in the general about people who are lazy/rude/attention seeking.
So please, MNHQ, to avoid accidentally insulting anyone, can we have an acronym that means 'all disibilities, physical or mental, hidden or visible, excluded from my rant'
I always assume that if someone is complaining about being sworn at, they are aware that the person may have tourettes or some other condition meaning that they cannot help swearing, but also that there is a possibility that the person was just being rude, which is more likely.
Long, ranty and probably doesn't make much sense, but I mean well.
