So I go to bed early to read coursework quite regularly and for some reason this leave DH unable to load the dishwasher, so I come down to dirty drtied up dishes sitting on the side.

Why is this? Can someone please explain this quirk of nature.

The dishwasher in our house is entirely my husband's domain. He gets huffy with me if I load it because I do it wrong apparently.

Actually my husband and I do disagree fundamentally about the dishwasher.

I think you should load it up piecemeal as-and-when, so as soon as you finish with your mug or whatever you should put it straight in, so it is out of sight and the kitchen looks tidy.

He thinks you should stack everything on the worktop above the dishwasher, and then load it all in one go at the end of the day. Apparently this is more efficient as you can see what needs to go in, and you don't have to move anything around.

We each remain totally convinced of the superiority of our own particular methods!

My DD earns her pocket money by doing it, end of problem :o

I no complain... Grin

We used to have the usual marital bickers over the dishwasher but the problem has been solved by getting a new one that actually seems to work, no matter where you put stuff, and also I am the only one who has read the manual so I am officially In Charge .

When we had the old crappy one it never worked and it was always the fault of whoever loaded it, so then no-one wanted to load it because it would fail and they would get moaned at by the other one.

Tell him to do it? I'm off to bed, I have unloaded the dishwasher. Can you load it so it's all clean for the morning.

Repeat every night until he realises it has to be done.

It's not men, it's the one that you live with being lazy, or not really thinking about it.

My DP is anal very good about loading the dishwasher, it's not a "man" thing to leave dirty pots piled up.

I agree, it's not a male issue, it's an attitude issue. My OH is generally very good about doing things like the dishwasher, unless someone makes him think he can get away with it. We have a cleaner, and in the past had a lady doing 2 days per week. OH left his plate on the surface above said appliance and when I mentioned it he said " oh, but X said not to worry as she would do it for me" I said that was nice of her and of course she would be back in four days time to clear up after him. He decided to cooperateGrin
