To think that the media should stop people not to panic buy fuel?

I have heard several reports on the news this evening urging people not to panic buy fuel. It would not have occurred to me to buy fuel if I hadn't heard those reports as my tank is over half full, but I now find myself wondering if I should top up when I go to the supermarket tomorrow. Just in case.

I will resist the temptation, but aibu to think that such reports merely fuel the demand and feed the panic?

Oh, god I am on the fuel reserve in my car, I had better go and fill up! If there is any petrol left anywhere.

I've driven past 2 petrol stations with only one or two cars at them filling up. Waitrose was normal too when I filled up at lunchtime - drove straight in without any wait.

Queuing at Sainsbury's today (blocking the roundabout ) and the Shell garage (although a tanker had just arrived) but at my little local garage it was clear as a bell (and all pumps working). Same price too.
Am to admit that we had to fill both cars today as both below empty and we have to get to work. Tried hard not to be judgey about everyone else there filling up jerry cans too.

The supermarket petrol stations around here are out of fuel, according to DH, who's now trying petrol stations near the motorway, in the hope of getting some.

Well, dh has just cycled past 2 petrol stations and both were closed. Already!! ( feel a bit irresponsible posting this)
We are fine at the moment, got enough to last a good week, but the fact that I can't walk very far at all at the moment has got me feeling a bit antsy, am already stuck at home unless dh or a friend takes me out. Could end up being really housebound.
