Seriously how do these companies get away with it? so they actually pay top money to come up with something like this and be okay with it?

Advertising rape no question about it.

They get away with it because there are too few women in the boardroom.

CreepyWeeBrackets · 26/03/2012 07:38

I thought he was trying to stop her from choking but the expressions are wrong and the caption is disgusting. Horrible!

Report it! Ads for alcohol are regulated quite strictly normally by the Portman Group.

Can't believe they've got it past them. The last Ad we wanted to do had to be changed because we couldn't associate our product with someone walking in the Countryside and then coming home to have a drink!

AwkwardMary · 26/03/2012 08:41

Where is this ad running?

Kayano · 26/03/2012 08:50

The article says it was an Internet ad and was removed within the hour apparenty

catgirl1976 · 26/03/2012 08:56

I think companies think they can be "edgier" with their on-line and viral marketing.

It's just someone needs to teach them the difference between "edgy" and "fuckwittedly offensive"

"Advertising rape no question about it."

I disagree. I saw it as the man performing the heimlich (which I can't spell) manoeuvre.

I can see how it can be misinterpreted but that was my immediate thought despite expecting to to depict rape.

God that is awful :(

I have had a second look following the comments about the heimlich manoeuvre and if I squint I can sort of see where you might get that from, but if that is genuinely what is happening why did they take the ad down, apologise, call for an investigation and say nothing about her choking and him 'rescuing' her?

Their actions have confirmed that it is indeed implying that a man is trying to force oral sex

I think they've made it so that people can interpret it as either heimlich or rape. It's foul and ridiculous and I shall never buy that brand again. That man's face looks psychopathic.
