So much more mind-blowing than anything 'wooo'...

Pendeen · 25/03/2012 23:47

puerile

Bookmarking the pale blue dot to send to a friend Smile.

Brilliant, thanks for posting DD1 will love those. DD2 will mutter something like "Help, it's bad enough mum, dad and big sister going on about science without MN joining in!"

DD2 is a very clear child, a lot of the science goes in, but she doesn't like to admit it Wink

PineCones · 25/03/2012 23:57

It's all a bit 'Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy' or me, viz
'Space, says the introduction to the guide, is big. Really big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind bogglingly big it is. And so on. '

startail · 25/03/2012 23:59

Clever child, unlike her dyslexic Mother who's spelling and reading she's been correcting since she was about 6Blush

Cillian Murphy is a rather sexy and gorgeous actor who not very famously changed from being an agnostic to an atheist when researching his role as a nuclear physicist/astronaut for the film Sunshine. Because it's all so mind blowing.

Himalaya · 26/03/2012 00:17

Has anyone linked to this yet?
'Tis amazing but needs Flash to work it.

runningforthebusinheels · 26/03/2012 00:21

I've bookmarked that one Himalaya - my dc will love that.

MightyNice · 26/03/2012 00:22

I think I might try out my own magnetic pull on a lonely astronomer, there must be some out there?

OP posts:
runningforthebusinheels · 26/03/2012 00:37

I'm married to a physicist Mighty Wink

He's not strictly a physicist now, to be truthful, but his degree is in physics and astronomy. It's the best. Smile

Nerds rule.

MightyNice · 26/03/2012 00:40

has he got any single astronomer friends who just need some mad middle aged minge (plus some horses, a lot of cats, dog and ferret and various descendants) to complete them?

OP posts:
runningforthebusinheels · 26/03/2012 00:43

I'll ask Wink

To be fair, the physicists were never short of a date when I was at uni. (a long long time ago).

Figarello · 26/03/2012 00:46

Amazing.

And yes, the stars are bloody stunning tonight. I went to close my bedroom curtains earlier and was struck by how close the sky appeared. Just beautiful.

You see stuff like that and you can't help but imagine what else is out there. We are a mere pin prick in an enormous universe.

TwoIfBySea · 26/03/2012 00:58

Next weekend we're going star-gazing in Holyrood park, Edinburgh with Historic Scotland. Am so looking forward to it...for my dts though. I'm going to show them the other videos on here tomorrow as they love this stuff.

They are desperate for Betelgeuse to explode this year so they can see it! Now I've seen the size of it I'm more cautious!

MightyNice · 26/03/2012 10:30

oooh apod thing

am I tool old/hairy/structurally imbalanced in the brain to become an astronomer?
