To wish that teapots in cafes actually poured the tea into the bloody cup?

YANBU I think they do it in the hope that you'll buy a second pot to make up for the amount you lose

The Cooler was only 'Medium' size. There appeared to be large amounts of ice involved. Confused

Yep, greasy spoon/building site caff: a big teapot behind the counter with unknown number of teabags in it (of unknown vintage), gets topped up from the urn and swilled round before they pour your tea. It's invariably brilliant tea, as well.

Sparklingbrook · 24/03/2012 18:03

Yes fossil, and sometimes a polystyrene cup adds to the experience. Grin

Right I've made a banner for when we march on Downing Street for the start of the Teapot Revolution.

It says:

"Fill Uppa
Our Cuppa!

"Down with Crap Teapots!!"

Sparklingbrook · 24/03/2012 18:25

Brilliant Salmo. Will we need a Petition to hand to Dave?

My genius dh taught me that when you are using one of those stainless steel cafe teapots you need to press down the lever to open the lid slightly as you pour - no more leaks! It does work!

Salmotrutta · 24/03/2012 18:34

Yes, Sparkling, a petition is A Good Thing.

Can I leave you to organise that?

Oooh I shall try your DHs tip MyHeart!

DoubleGlazing · 24/03/2012 18:35

I'll remember that one MyHeartBelongsToKermit!

I find they work best if you pour from up high Grin if you have spout touching cup then it goes everywhere, but if you pour it from above (like a little waterfall) it doesn't make a mess.

Does remind me a little a bloke taking a leak, however. Grin

you cynic Bertie. I'm sure she'd just happened to come across them, happened to come across this thread and wanted to share the tip. After all, that's what MN is all about :o

RubyVaultingGates · 17/08/2012 13:30

55 quid for a tea pot? How much tea is that? Hmmmm. Hmm

BertieBotts · 17/08/2012 13:45

Grin it was the way she "happened" to come across her own teapot which tickled me!

Spuddybean · 17/08/2012 14:15

i refuse to buy tea in coffee shops they use hot not boiling water so as well as covering yourself i hot water it tastes rubbish. It is really expensive, i want to splutter 'how much for a tea bag, hot water and thimble of milk'. Also NEVER let them do the milk for you in Pret in a takeaway tea, you end up with hot water and milk :( there is only a trace of tea. Not sure what weak ass bags they use.

Abroad when you get a glass of hot water, a yellow tea bag and hot steamed milk is the worst tho. What level of hell does that drink belong? purgatory i think.
