Whether it be the best and most deserving charity in the world or some guy selling manure off the back of a truck?
I cant believe charities actually get anyone agreeing to set up a direct debit with them at the door Hmm

I agree - I have worked for charities in both a paid and voluntary capacity (still do Grin) and really can't understand the logic behind it; clearly it must work otherwise charities would not do it but I am very uncomfortable with it. I feel desperately sorry for the people who do it as it must be soul destroying work but last time it happened I was a bit unkind, I know a lot about the particular charity they were trying to get you to sign up for so I asked all sorts of questions about who was their CEO, what their policies were etc - poor girl didn't have a clue Grin.

I really don't mind the 'envelopes' that are put through your door and then you can just shove a few coins in if you want - although I hated collecting them in the past and refuse to now !

YANBU!

I answer the door, then tell them I'm not interested and then shut the door before they speak.

I hate these companies who knock on the door , It is irritating and there is no need for it , they are private companies employed by the chariites i wonder if the charities know or care what their tactics are like . Hmm

I have never signed a direct debit form at the door and never would.

If a charity was particularly meaningful to me and I had the spare cash, I would still set it up through a secure server online or with my bank.
