why does he always do that? yes, i live i a nice house in a nice area, but so do most of the people in the practice. and that means sod all anyways. of course its going to be nhs. and if that means an 18 week wait, well, its still only 18 weeks till he gets treatment from superbly qualified professionals. etc etc etc.

WhereYouLeftIt · 22/03/2012 11:19

Is it your doctor asking this?

exhackette · 22/03/2012 12:13

Tell him you don't have private health insurance, (whether you do or not) so, yes, it will ALWAYS be NHS.

BareBums · 22/03/2012 12:15

On your other thread you did say your DH was a higher tax rate payer so "it's not like he can't afford it" (your statement) so based on that I guess whoever "he" is assumes you may well go private because you can afford it?

LentillyFart · 22/03/2012 12:16

This is the sum total of aggravation in your life?

CarrieAnnRegardless · 22/03/2012 12:19

What are you on about? Who?

If this is your GP presumably it is best if they check whether people have the option of a private route so they know how to plan the referrals?
Even people in less nice houses etc sometimes have BUPA through work or something.

It sounds like a question, not an accusation!

MrsCampbellBlack · 22/03/2012 12:20

Well my GP knows we have private health cover so always refers accordingly.

I doubt he pays much attention to your house to be honest - he/she is just being thorough which is surely a good thing.

imnotmymum · 22/03/2012 12:21

It is just a question I guess he asks everyone ?? The Doc will not know your personal income etc. and depending on circumstances maybe one day you will go private if needs must

Callisto · 22/03/2012 12:22

18 weeks is nearly half a year. If you've got the money I think YABU not to send your child private.

mosschops30 · 22/03/2012 12:25

Id rather go private if i could afford it (we have cover) why wait 18 weeks if you dont need to.
Im not sure what your point is?
Are you just being a bit of a martyr?

WorraLiberty · 22/03/2012 12:26

This OP is written as though we're all supposed to know what she's talking about.

What hospital 'stuff'???

If we knew that, it would make things a lot easier when trying to reach a YABU or YANBU lol...

Goolash · 22/03/2012 12:27

Dr always asks us. I assumed everyone was asked.

lostboysfallin · 22/03/2012 12:27

Lentilly, she's got dc and hospital aggravation.
Bit harsh, maybe?

sue52 · 22/03/2012 12:30

Isn't it standard practice to ask? I don't quite see the problem. Just say "yes, the DC will be treated under the NHS".

WorraLiberty · 22/03/2012 12:32

But who is 'he'?

Is it the Doctor, the child himself or the OP's Husaband?

Could be anyone really.

WorraLiberty · 22/03/2012 12:33

And wtf is a 'Husaband'? Blush

Groovee · 22/03/2012 12:35

Who is he?

BareBums · 22/03/2012 12:37

I'm abit Hmm at the OP
They already made a baffling thread in AIBU about 5minutes before making this one...

imnotmymum · 22/03/2012 12:37

Sounds like a posh version of Husband

Starwisher · 22/03/2012 12:39

Eh?

imnotmymum · 22/03/2012 13:13

Husaband- like when you always use the full name of your children with all the syllables when yelling . Worra asked just lending a suggestion

nothappybunny457 · 24/03/2012 23:54

sorry, havent been back to mumsnet for a few days. rl and all that.

husaband is my excellent typing skills.

he is the gp.

lentilly is correct. this is the least of my problems. and its a bad habit of mine, that i stress about the tiny minute unimportant stuff when i have other, huge, bigger issues to deal with. a sick child is certainly a problem, but its tonsils, so i am not overly worried about it. iyswim.

18 weeks may be half a year. but no matter how much 'd'h earns, private wont be a possibility for us.

he is a very good doctor, and as someone pointed out, he is simply covering all the bases. and I am very pleased that we are lucky enough to have him and the practice with all its excellent health professionals. that may sound trite, but i am honestly grateful to have them all

catgirl1976 · 25/03/2012 08:14

They ask everyone - it's standard practice IME. Perhaps you are more worried about your son than you think and that's why you have decided a question asked of everyone is somehow personal to you.

Sorry you DC is not well, hope he gets better soon.

Fuzzywuzzywozabear · 25/03/2012 09:29

18 weeks isn't half a year - 26 weeks is. So it's not even as long as you thought. OP YANBU and I hope your DC feels better soon
