Had an interview at a school today, which I was really pleased about. Part of the interview comprised of a guided tour by some children and the deputy head. There were five candidates - 4 women and a man. The man may have been the most irritating person I've ever met! During the tour he almost physically forced himself to the front in order to walk in step with dep head. I know I didn't imagine this as I saw raised eyebrows from another of the women when he pushed past her.
When curious children came over he did the equivalent of LOUD parenting, complete with smug side glances at dep head. Whenever we were in the room of male teachers he would sidle up to the teacher, talk in a "man to man" manner and do horrid, ingratiating belly laughs at their comments...
What got me most though... just before the end of the tour, the dep head had to leave and left the kids to finish up. Our "tour leader" child asked us if we'd like to visit the nature area. All of us said yes apart from this bloody chap who said no, he'd be off now! (He was first candidate so had had interview - the tour was the last stage of the day for him, but not the rest of us.) And he just buggered off because there was no adult to impress!
I know I'm ranting because I don't like waiting, but spending a day in the company of someone so wholly irritating does not do much for my mood.
