DD (6) is very happy at school. I like her teacher. One of DD friends has been taking her scooter to school for the past two weeks, and the school has been quite happy to put it somewhere safe in the morning, and the little girl collects it at the end of school. So today, DD asked if she could ride her scooter to school, and I couldn't see why not. It is a 20 minute walk. We got to school and put the scooter in the 'approved' place. At the end of school, DD's teacher saw her taking the scooter, and asked if it really was hers to take! I walked up and said that it had her name on it, and the teacher replied 'well, can you take it home in future because we don't have room'. I didn't want to make a scene because two classes of parents were watching but my head nearly started spinning. The other child with the scoooter didn't have hers today because grandma was collecting her, so maybe they have put a stop to the whole scooter thing. But, if that is the case, they still let her take it for a fortnight, so setting a precedent. And the thing is, her mother drops her at the gate from the car, and she only scoots across the playground! Grrrrrrrr. I feel better now.

YANBU, I would ask them to clarify their policy on children arriving by scooter and storage of the scooters.

Yes, I will, good idea, thanks. On occasion, they have even stored this girl's scooter in a cupboard in the classroom but they couldn't do that for a whole class, of course.
