About 35 schoolchildren (probably about yr 5 or 6) got on my commuting bus this morning.

THIRTY FIVE Shock plus maybe 4 or 5 adults.

That sodding bus is HEAVING at the best of times, with people trying their darndest to get to work.

It was just an absolute ....

I love when you see adults and children like each other

Good, 'cos it made me smile too - and I kind of don't like children Blush Grin

THat's one of the nicest things about it kickass. It was such a nice atmosphere. When I finally get up the spout my kids are totally going there (I shamelessly peered at the logo on their backpacks) Grin

That's a good idea Beer. I might have a look and see if they have a kind of all-purpose email address thingy (am scared of phones.)

That is lovely , I was just getting ready to say that kids need to get to school too etc and now you have made me smile too.

LumpyLatimer · 19/03/2012 10:58

(They wont' think I'm bonkers? ).

I mean. If I were the Head I'd be thrilled to get that message...

I think one of the nicest things was that it was in an East London borough that everyone likes to think of as deprived, and there's always a lot of fretting about whether it's an OK place to bring children up, but here was just a brilliant example of a state primary with children from all kinds of ethnic backgrounds, and you couldn't hope for a better environment (assuming this was representative of the school as a whole, which it probably was...)

RIGHT. The Head's email address is online. I shall get scribbling!

I was once on a bus when 2 young teenage girls got on with a young toddler in a pushchair. No idea if one was the mum or older sister. Anyway one sat next to an elderly man and chatted for the entire journey to him about the toddler, while the other spent the journey pulling faces to make the toddler laugh. As they got off the younger one turned to the man and said "it was nice to meet you".
One in the eye for the ill educated foul mouthed teen mum stereotypes (even if she was the sister!)

WorraLiberty · 19/03/2012 11:07

Definitely a great idea to contact the Head with some praise!

Normally they'll read a letter/email like that out in assembly.

kickassangel · 19/03/2012 11:10

DO contact the school. I'm a teacher and it is so important for kids to hear when they get things right. Staff like it too

MadameMessy · 19/03/2012 11:11

I rang our local school in September to tell the head how nice the lads at the bus stop and on the bus had been, and how I know they get a lot of stick, but these are nice kids. he of course was delighted to got such good feedback.
do it. the head I talked to mentioned I had rang in assembly so it was passed along.

LumpyLatimer · 19/03/2012 11:12

Cheers Worra and Beer - I have just emailed.

Stealth that is lovely too. I just get so weary of the rather misanthropic stuff about how hateful pretty much everyone is, and I think it's nice to record/celebrate the good stuff...

(I think the sunshine has got to me!)
