ok so this is a blatant PFB showoff post. My DS is almost 3, and was born very prematurely so has a few developmental issues. His main one is a significant speech delay. We are expecting DS2 next month and spent the weekend at an NCT course... with my parents doing us a huge favour and babysitting both days.

My DS is just starting to vocalise and will repeat some open vowels and the occasional constonant if directly asked. My lovely mum spent all day saturday teaching him to say "mama" - it is the first time he's ever said it!

I am just glowing, I practically melted! He is so proud of himself too because he's been getting such a lot of praise and attention when he does it.

Awwwwh.

Go on, tell me what your lovely children (or DPs) have done too, lets have a happy thread in AIBU for once!

That's lovely.

My two (DD 13 and DS 10) gave me tulips and a bar of Dairy Milk and some bubble bath and a big hug each - my four favourite things!

DS's card had fake gems stuck to it and he had put "I hope you like these diamonds but they are fake, sorry"

But I am, apparently, THE best mum in the world so that's all that matters!!

My eldest DD gave me a stone with flowers painted on it that she had made at guides and it is wonderful. i keep all these little pressies safe and look at them when she is being a vile teenager Smile

I got home made cards, a home made daffodil (cardboard) and a bunch of flowers from DH. I got breakfast in bed after a lie in, and my 3 children climbed all over my bed whilst I ate it. DS1 proudly told me that he gave up playing with play doh to make a card during art. DS2 told me that 'the cup of tea was my idea'. DD made various demands like 'want bread' (half my breakfast gone) 'hold flower' and 'drink teeeea' (well now that's full of dribble so you can keep it.)
I couldn't be happier if they'd brought me the moon on a stick Grin

Oh, but forgot to say- OP, that is truly wonderful! You must be a very proud mommy.

CreepyWeeBrackets · 19/03/2012 00:11

Wow, OP - how utterly lovely!

DS is autistic and any word was more precious than rubies at that age. That one especially.

I am very happy for you Smile

DS bought me some glittery poems mounted on card and laminated and faux flowers made by the older children (bless them) in his school and I was delighted by them but on the card he had spelt his name in capitals. I thought he had copied them but earlier today he did it again on a blank sheet of paper from memory and was so impressed. He is four.

Magic Smile

I have a premmie too. I sat outside with him today and we had a chat about what we could see. Clouds, cars, flowers etc. It was the best.

oh that is so lovely OP! well done to your little boy, my 2yr old also has a speech delay so can imagine how proud u must be for that word.

i got my 1st mothers day present this yr (after 3 kids and nearly 4 yrs!!) but my ds gave me it on friday, they had all made fairy cakes for everyone's mums in nursery and he did me a lovely card with a cake pic on the front. it is really good and he wrote his name in it by himself, i will be keeping it forever!

TheSockPuppet · 19/03/2012 01:17

My DS gave me a big hug and helped me tidy up, he's just turned 5 and hates tidying up but done it without even being asked :o

YANBU at all OP. That is indeed a fabulous Mother's day present and one you'll remember for the rest of your life!

DS1 made me a bead bracelet and frame with a drawing of a fox in it. Not sure of the significance of the fox, but could be because we're reading 'Fantastic Mr Fox' atm. DH took us out for lunch on sat (he was away yesterday) which was lovely and the boys were beautifully behaved which made it even better.
