I'm feeling a bit :(

DH left at 7:30 this morning to travel to his parents to take his sister to the airport (she's emigrating) & to be there for PIL who will be v upset (my idea that he went. No problem with that. Too far for a day trip with DD & we all went down a couple of weeks ago for too long a few days for the goodbye family party)

He got me a mothers day card from 13 month old DD. I was delighted.
Then he showed me the card he got for MIL - to NAN, (ie also from DD), and the HUGE box of chocolates 'DD' also got for MIL.

AIBU to be pissed off that my DD got a gift for MIL for mothers day?
I wish he would just give the gift and a card from himself.

yabu.

im impessed HE bought anything and it wasn't you tbh

Fanjo people are capable of reading your whole posts themselves.
I quoted only what I commented on.
For someone who doesn't care for Mothers day (for themselves) there seems to be a lot going on for other mothers in your family. organised by you.
Ditto what maytheodds says.

INeverFinishAnythi · 18/03/2012 09:49

I think YABabitU, but he really should have bought you something too, even something tiny would have been a nice gesture, particularly as he isn't spending the day with you. He's just trying to do something nice for his mum on a difficult day, and I don't think putting DDs name on the card/gift is that weird. Especially as she is so young, MIL will know they are from your DH really!

I buy cards for my DS's grandparents on mothers day and fathers day, simply because they all do so much for him and it's nice to show them some appreciation.

I hope you have a happy mothers day OP :)

X post fanjo - no, fair enough.

what a bastard, buying his mother a little something from his child

leave the bastard immediately, and find one that's less abusive and controlling Hmm

sunnydelight · 18/03/2012 09:57

Are you seriously jealous that his mother got a box of chocolates when it's Mothers Day and her daughter is emigrating, because that's what it boils down to no matter who it's "from"? Get a grip. Posts like this make me really depressed for the future as I have two sons; the number of mean spirited women on here does my head in.

YANBU
I've been annoyed that grannies recently started creeping into the whole Mother's Day thing! Being an old cynic I think it's just a marketing ploy to get more cards, pressies and chocolates sold!
I would let it slide in this case tho - her daughter is emigrating today after all, and the card and chocolates will hopefully cheer her up a little bit.
Next year hint for a big box of chocs for yourself too tho!
xx

OMG Are you serious?

IKilledIgglePiggle · 18/03/2012 11:30

YABU and very mean spirited. I sent my mum and MIL flowers from all of us, 3 DCs included. Your attitude is strange.
