I've said I won't as it's too dangerous. He thinks I'm being unreasonable, am I?

Of course YANBU

How fricking ridiculous of him

HettyKett · 16/03/2012 19:55

YANBU

SmellsLikeTeenStrop · 16/03/2012 19:56

YANBU

MrsTerryPratchett · 16/03/2012 19:56

YANBU, what a muppet.

jelliebelly · 16/03/2012 19:56

YANBU what a ridiculous suggestion

AnyFucker · 16/03/2012 19:57

is your husband always a tool ?

GetTheeToANunnery · 16/03/2012 19:59

He wants me to add that because of us moving home soon he won't be able to see DS during the week as the commute is too long, so he wants me to video call him during DSs bath time whilst he is driving.

OP posts:
Bumf · 16/03/2012 19:59

No way. Tell him to get real.

MrsTerryPratchett · 16/03/2012 20:00

DS would presumably like an ALIVE father.

oikopolis · 16/03/2012 20:03

tell him to start taking public transport if he wants to video call during his commute

he'll spend a lot less time with DS if he's dead in a car accident, or in prison for killing someone else!!

griphook · 16/03/2012 20:08

wow, shocked that someone would think this is ok, really quite selfish. On this morning they commented that the bus crash driver was changing a dvd at the time of the crash and got distracted.

GetTheeToANunnery · 16/03/2012 20:31

I'd managed to get myself thinking I was actually being unreasonable with his reaction.
AF he is quite a tool sometimes yes. He suggests weird things like this sometimes and doesn't get why it's weird. He once suggested we go fishing on a nice riverbank somewhere with our toddler ds who never ever sits still. I was Hmm

OP posts:
AnyFucker · 16/03/2012 20:44

I thought so

JustHecate · 16/03/2012 20:57

Why can't he just pull over?

And yes, he's being a prat to even think this is ok.

fabwoman · 16/03/2012 21:06

Please don't let him bully you into doing this and stop talking to him on the phone while he is driving too - if you do.

GetTheeToANunnery · 16/03/2012 21:48

I don't let him bully me into anything fabwoman :)

BustersOfDoom · 16/03/2012 22:01

What a knob! He should be giving 100% attention to driving AND then later 100% attention to you and your DS. Both at separate times. He can't do both! And if he were to get stopped he would lose his licence.

The only this would be acceptable is if he is on a train or has a chauffeur.

AnyFucker · 16/03/2012 22:03

OP, you had to ask on MN about this subject though, didn't you ? You questioned yourself. That is fine, but don't underestimate the power of someone making you feel like you don't know your mind.

sunnydelight · 16/03/2012 22:07

Having been rear ended recently at speed by a wanker who was texting, I am not very rational on this subject. Of course YANBU and your DH is, in this case, , a total moron.

TeWihara · 16/03/2012 22:09

You could suggest he stops at a service station at bath time?

But no, not while driving obviously!

minimisschief · 17/03/2012 00:31

hows it different than a person sat next to you. i would assume it being less dangerous than the 99% of drivers that glance sideways constantly while talking to a passenger.

cookcleanerchaufferetc · 17/03/2012 07:14

Watching a video ..... Glancing at someone ... Hmmmm

Op, your DH is asking to risk his own life, and others, and is an absolute dick.

skybluepearl · 17/03/2012 07:33

the answer to him is no, it's not safe.

fabwoman · 17/03/2012 11:35

minimisschief - please tell us where you are so we can't avoid you when you are driving.

CalamityKate · 17/03/2012 12:15

I never glance sideways at passengers when I'm driving. There is no need to. I know they're still there.

My DP used to tend to do it until I reassured him that I'm not going to climb out while he's not looking. It's not as if he's in danger of chatting away to thin air if he doesn't keep an eye on me Hmm
