AIBU to be a bit freaked out by being copied...

hello - OK go easy on me I'm a lurker - I'm still getting my head around the abbreviations!

So I have a problem, I have a person who copies lots of things I do, clothes, shoes, jeans (down to the brand) handbags - hunts down the exact same bag from ebay if it's not in the shops - Hair colour, hair cut, coats.

Moved to be in the same area, gardening wise same plants, trees.

Children wise same wellies, boots, shoes, coats.

House wise, same wallpaper, paint colours etc.

Holidays

It seems like no part of my life isn't copied, actually car, I'm safe with my car!

Its fine and laughable for a while but this has now being going on for about 2 years and I've really had enough, to the point people stopped her to talk thinking it was me from the back.

I'm totally 100% happy with who I am what I stand for how I parent and all aspects of my life I enjoy life to the full, but this is really bothering me, so much so I counted the individual items and it totals 16 exact copies, and many many more similar ones -on a whole I could discount some items as just life and similar tastes, but even with that I think I'm being stalked.

Should I ask them to stop and have it out??? or just ignore get on with life and dye my hair blue??

It sounds like she is jealous of your lifestyle and wants to emulate it in every way. Choosing wallpaper that isn't her style is just bizarre!

If you keep away from her more, then hopefully she will not be able to copy as much.

Have your DC noticed her DC matching them?

single white female

ScruffyTerrier · 14/03/2012 21:36

Is your last name Jones?

avoidinglibelaction · 14/03/2012 21:39

cabbage don't watch single white female it will freak you out more but you might want to buy a copy and leave it in sight so she gets it too - watches it - and then she might get that you've got a problem or might follow the film - NOT a good idea Hmm
Seriously though I think you could say something about her decorating her house like yours - I should redecorate the parts she's copied and say something like ' I wanted to have something different from you so people won't think it's weird our houses are the same' if she copies tell her she's weird deranged and to f@*& off Grin

AKissIsNotAContract · 14/03/2012 21:49

She sounds very annoying. As she rents, I'm surprised her landlord doesn't mind her redecorating the house.

Mishy1234 · 14/03/2012 22:08

Buy stuff which can't be copied without a lot of trouble. Make one off clothes or buy vintage. Keep changing tack completely each time she copies you.

You never know, it might end up being quite amusing.

cabbagesoup · 14/03/2012 22:09

Akissisnotacontract we have the same landlord, long term lets so it's cool to redecorate etc!

You know when you start to make decisions on what to buy and wear based on the fact you know it won't be copied it will be me going bust!!

I think the word annoying is right, has anyone ever addressed this face to face with people or do we just hope it goes away?

And in answer yes my DC have noticed and commented on the copying as it's been noted that they have the same "branded" wellies having been staunch supermarket buyers. our branded wellies are hand downs from a great mate of mine who has older ones!!

In your shoes I would confide in her about my deep and abiding fascination with the S&M scene and your plans for even more genital piercings.

Then see if she starts walking funny.

ManicPanic · 14/03/2012 22:13

Sorry should have been your deep fascination, not 'my' (freudian slip perhaps)

AKissIsNotAContract · 14/03/2012 22:17

Ok if you're renting I'd move. She sounds scary.

Or do what manicpanic suggests and have some fun with it.

cabbagesoup · 14/03/2012 22:23

manicpanic classic!! love it you know what I may just do that, not for real...

Just be thankful that she isn't shagging your husband as well! My estranged sister had an affair with her best friends husband and subsequently changed her own home into a perfect replica of his marital home and even went so far as to copy the tattoos that his wife had - I shit you not!

They even had babies 3 weeks apart and nobody including me had a clue what was happening.

And that is why she is my estranged sister ...the big freak!!

cabbagesoup · 14/03/2012 22:40

patfenis bloody ell - God no I don't worry about that one my DH wouldn't go there!!

Cabbage, you wouldn't believe the whole story, it sounds like a script for a really bad screenplay :(
