I've made some cakes, but they are a bit shit.

It doesn't matter what they taste like, does it?

Should I nip out and get some Mr Kipling?

I agree with PurplePidjin, give them faces. The sick one clearly has his tongue out.

Can you make rainbow icing? They look fine to me though, definitely school fete worthy!

Eliza22 · 12/03/2012 21:25

My school cake sale offerings are always shite. But DS only wants to buy his own back anyway.

Nagoo · 12/03/2012 21:55

I can never get icing to colour without splitting. I am very far away from domestic goddessery.

How do you make rainbow cakes?

I'd just ice them until they taste of nothing but sugar. No one will know that they don't taste great until after they have paid for them and you aren't looking for repeat business, so it just doesn't matter.

Nagoo · 12/03/2012 22:13

normal sponge mix, divide it into separate pots, colour it and then blob it in the cases, swish it with a skewer :)

Mr Kipling cakes are shite, no? Home made's always better.

That book sounds really familiar! I'll not sleep now thinking of the title?

MissKeithLemon · 13/03/2012 00:19

Send them in, they'll appreciate the effort! Mine on the other hand are usually so bad they cannot possibly be eaten sigh and then I rush out to buy them in the morning just sidle in without as I usually help out at school and no one notices anyway cos there are always some mums who make bloody good buns! Mmmmmm

I always melted cadburys chocolate in the microwave (watch it to make sure it doesn't overheat) and spread that over then added smarties/white choc buttons or whatever. My cakes would be snapped up.
