AIB a slattern if I put washing on the line to dry overnight?

I think we may have had this thread before but I can't recall the consensus.

Bedtime, back shortly.

obugrit, do as your nn suggests - and sod the neighbours!

spendthrift · 10/03/2012 19:42

Who cares?

Assume you are not in Switzerland or wee free territory, where in the first instance they might care at any time and in the second you need to avoid the Sabbath.

Extra fresh air us what I'd say.

DaisySteiner · 10/03/2012 19:43

It's only slatternish if you don't get in until September Grin

BabyGiraffes · 10/03/2012 19:43

You wouldn't do this if you lived anywhere with huge seagulls. They always wake before me (and then wake me at about half 4) in late spring/summer and circle overhead. I swear they actually aim at my white towels on the line!! Angry

usualsuspect · 10/03/2012 19:43

Mines still out there, I forgot to fetch it in.

ohbugrit · 10/03/2012 19:45

Yikes - there are wee free pockets round here. My name will be mud Shock

Think I'll go for it Grin

Oh, and seeing the same washing on the line day after day always reminds me of a neighbour a few years ago who hadn't taken hers in because she'd gone off and died...

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 10/03/2012 20:11

No seagulls here, but, much as I love to see them return every year, I could do without swift shit on my sheets...

But they're not back yet! Grin

notaniphoneownerjustabadtypist · 10/03/2012 20:44

No, I do this - the washing machine takes so long that if i put it on in the morning it isn't finished until 11 ish, so not enough time to dry the same day. SO i put it out late pm then in again late pm next day. it takes 24h to dry properly.

lesstalkmoreaction · 10/03/2012 20:46

Mines been out since friday as I'm fed up with having it hung around the house and I honestly couldn't be bothered to deal with it today, yes i'm a slob.

feralgirl · 10/03/2012 20:47

I leave mine out until it's dry. If it rains in the meantime then it just stays out for longer. I've never thought that was slatternly, just common sense really.

spendthrift · 10/03/2012 21:13

Ohbugrit, do you have notices saying no ball games on the Sabbath round you?
Always wondered how many babies got conceived on a Sunday...

CremeEggThief · 10/03/2012 21:14

You're not a slattern, but it won't get any drier over night. Mine doesn't seem to get any drier after about 3 p.m., but it might be because I have a north facing garden.

Why on earth would your neighbours give a shit?

Anyway, slatterns either don't wash them or use the tumble dryer.

lesley33 · 10/03/2012 21:24

A few people do care about this kind of thing Hmm When I moved into rented student accommodation my elderly neighbour informed me with outrage that the curtains in my bedroom hadn't once been washed in the 3 years they had been up. And they didn't get washed in the 2 years I was there either.

suburbandream · 10/03/2012 21:28

My washing is on the line at the moment! It wasn't dry and I can't be bothered to bring it in - it's not forecast to rain and it's not cold enough to put the heating on so I'm not going to put it on the radiators, plus I hate having wet washing in the house.

lazylula · 10/03/2012 21:30

Mine is still out from lunchtime, I forgot to get it in. Actually, no I didn't forget I was just too busy sorting out 3 miserable children and by the time they were in bed it was damp again! In the Summer I often put my washing out at night, my neighbour does the same so no odd looks from them!
