To want to know your not-drinking excuses

I need an excuse for not drinking when I visit my d parents next weekend.

My father usually starts in on the gin and tonics at the stroke of 6, opens a few bottles with dinner and gets the cognac out with dessert. Usually this is lovely (except he gets a bit argumentative by coffee), but I cant drink at the moment, and dont want to tell him why, and need a good excuse - the old antibiotics excuse wont wash.

Has anyone got a good excuse?

Well she hasn't said she isn't... and we are getting her in training for the real interrogation if she fails with the chosen non-drinking ruse.

Hahaaa! - MY suggestion is you send your identical twin sister in your place and hope your Dad is too sloshed to notice as she gets merrily drunk in your stead and passes DSM delicious cooking to you hiding under the table. Grin

trying to support alcoholic friend.
Got drunk with friend, in the hangover following had competition to see who could go longest without alcohol...pretend to be tempted as they are not there, then go all guilty and say no.
Sponsored no alcohol thing at work, raise moneyfor charity after colleague died. If they offer to give money you then give yo charity!
All a bit convoluted but..

Sorry, really, really dont want to write down why not drinking as incredibly superstitious (but thats probably given it away).

I know I can (and will) say no, but to be fair to my DFather, probably the only time I haven't had at least a couple of glasses of wine with dinner there has been when I was pregnant with DD. He doesnt drink like that every night, but very much regards a visit from his children as a celebration and good excuse. He is very affectionate, but very, very nosy and d step-mother does her best to reign him in, but is not always successful. He is also a terribly gossip and would worry greatly if there was a hint of illness and probably drag me to his GP.

So far, I like the bet with DH excuse as he will join in the with the idea and would definitely snitch on me if I cheated.

PS after 11 years of ttc before DD was born, there is no way that they will ask if I am pg, just dont want them even thinking it and worrying

I don't know, I'd just dump them (drinks) in the sink or something. Hope you come back and tell us what you told them and how it went.

I luff your Dad I do.

Thank you GinPalace, I love him too even if I can only stand two days at a time. He is like a slightly toned down Brian Blessed - drives DH bonkers.

Grin poor DH Wink

Hope your DSM is a mner or you might've been spotted now - your DFather is clearly one of a kind unless you count Brian Blessed

is - isn't
