Just made a total idiot of my self by crying in front of DS Teacher. Have had a very bad few months with job, mum gone under the knife today for full hysterectomy to hopefully remove all cancer, I am in Y&H she is in NE, This is now and has been effecting my son at school his writing has gone down hill he is not sleeping like his mum. Feel I am a terrible person and parent and am going to start crying again agggg Blush

I've shed plenty of tears in front of the teacher in my time! I'm sure they've seen it all before. Have a good cry and then give your son a cuddle, sounds like you're both having a rough time right now.

Oh you won't have made an idiot of yourself

The chances are that same teacher would have been crying in the staff room/toilets/Head's office at some point during her career.

Everyone cries when stress gets too much Smile

What does 'Y&H' mean?

marriedinwhite · 08/03/2012 19:18

You didn't make an idiot of yourself you behaved like a human being who is having a tough time and who is also very worried about the effect of real, tangible stress on her son. Sounds totally normal to me and likely to mean that the teacher will be looking out for your son and finding an extra few minutes for him every day.

Hope things look up for you soon and fingers and toes crossed for your mum.

ditsymum · 08/03/2012 19:24

Oh God, don't worry. I cried in front of my DS's teacher about a month ago. And for a lot, lot less.

HumphreyCobbler · 08/03/2012 19:29

People often cry at parent's evening. Don't worry about it. It shows you care.

Do hope everything works out for you.

WorraLiberty · 08/03/2012 19:29

Ahh I see

Well best of luck to your Mum

As for your DS...his writing going downhill isn't the end of the world

My kid's writing goes up and downhill more often than the Grand old Duke of York

It'll all pan out in the end Grin

complexnumber · 08/03/2012 19:29

You have NOT made an idiot of yourself!

Many teachers are parents themselves and have experienced their own problems.

All teachers are human and most have strong feelings of empathy.

MySunshineInGreySkies · 08/03/2012 19:30

Best of luck for your mum.

mummytime · 08/03/2012 19:31

I've cried over the deputy head after dropping DD into school in the "wrong clothes" (one of those dress up days). They had tissues in the Heads office, she doesn't have kids but wasn't at all phased.

thebody · 08/03/2012 19:33

Big hugs, teacher would have lots of sympathy, hope ur mum ok xx

fuzzpig · 08/03/2012 19:34

I'll bet the teacher would much rather see a parent cry (IYSWIM!), than one who doesn't give a crap about their child's progress.
